Anyone got a McCain $50/hr. job offer transcript/video audio?
I've found news stories citing this, but it'd be very good to nail this out-of-touch asshat to the cross with actual footage.

Failing that, I'd like a direct quote from a transcript.

So far all I have found are references to McCain's job offer:

http://www.tucsoncitizen.com/daily/local/8281.php

He offered anybody in the crowd $50 an hour to pick lettuce.

Shouts of protest rose from the crowd. "I'll take it!" one man said.

"You can't do it, my friends," McCain retorted.

This could be a very, very big deal.

Ok, it could at least be the next Quayle "Potatoe"...

1. self-kick--anyone?
I do think vast swaths of Americans would take umbrage at the notion that they wouldn't do hard physical labor for what would amount to ~$100K/year.

2. Sorry, first I heard of it.
I hope this can be spread far and wide. The American worker will tear him a new one. What an Asshole!

3. This needs to come up EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. he shows his mug
You can't get much more out of touch than imagining most Americans wouldn't jump at a $100,000 job, menial or not.

Good god, that's more than double the national household median income! I realize DC is expensive and entry level gigs pay higher than they do in much of the country, but damn. That's just monumentally out of touch with one's constituency.

8. But still no audio, video, or transcript
I googled a similar list earlier.

I do NOT want this to slide down the damn memory hole.

6. Totally agreed!
This definately needs to get out there. Especially to his base. A well prepared soundbite would decimate him. One thing the American worker has left (since all the jobs are gone) is their pride and I daresay this pompous ass just trampled all over it.

4. If we could just keep slaves, we would not have an immigration

problem. .... this is Mc Cains' logic.

I'm sure he meant to say $5.00 an hour and not $50.00.

9. Because "Five" sounds just like "Fifty?"
I don't think so.

10. I'm not making excuses for McCain. He may have read the
$5.00 in the speech provided to him by his staff and thought $50.00. I think he did this to deny himself the reality that immigrants are treated like slaves. Either way the guy is out of touch.
