We've got this huge segment (obviously not a majority at all but...) dripping with racism and hate and vitriol, what do we do?

We watch their heroes like Delay resign, watch Abramoff go to jail, watch * go down in flames, but their hatefull ass bastard base will still be there.

It's like talking to a rock, or beter yet, a steaming turd.. you can't convince them of anything, you can't educate them... what to do with these fools?

We can and we will try. But I have serious doubts about whether pushing Diebold buttons does anything.

Central tabulators can be rigged by one Bushevik sitting in his cubicle in the basement of Langley or Crawford while he eats donuts with the other hand.

I hope I am wrong, but the chance is slim.

9. First, keep them away from heavy machinery and firearms.

Then, surround them with loads of people who don't buy their crap, and are having a really good time getting along with each other. Eventually they start to miss being human and come around. Or at least some of them do. It's good to have a few fairly burly types on hand, though, in case they flip into violent mode.

Seriously, this kind of hatred and visciousness is a disease, I think. In a healthy society, such types are isolated and either get help or self-destruct (unfortunately sometimes taking a few innocent bystanders with them). But from time to time, some dickhead politician decides he can amass power by playing to people's lowest natures. Then the disease starts to spread, as more and more people are mistreated and a percentage of those become angry, resentful and start to catch the disease.

In the words of MJ "Have a tasty habit and aid the hand that bleeds; Remeber who you say you are and keep your noses clean." In other words, one thing we can do to prevent the spread of the disease is to be decent and honest. Or something like that.

Anyway, I guess the saying's true, that "there's one in every crowd." There will always be some hard-ass unredeemable nutcases. I say, keep an eye on them and try not to let it spread.
