DNC Launches Neighbor-to-Neighbor National Organizing Day
The Democratic National Committee announced today that it will hold a National "Neighbor-to-Neighbor Organizing Day" on Saturday, April 29, 2006. The events on April 29th will kick-off a national effort by volunteers across the nation who will go door-to-door to talk with their neighbors about the Democratic Party's bold vision for America based on honest leadership and real security. This grassroots event represents an important next step in the DNC's State Partnership Project to help turn the vision of a permanent Democratic majority into a reality. The April event is the first of three national organizing drives that are a key part of building strong Election Day teams for 2006 and beyond. Democratic volunteers are working in their communities to organize and mobilize volunteers and voters.
"Election by election, state by state, precinct by precinct, door by door, vote by vote, Democrats are going to take this country back for the people who built it," said DNC Chairman Howard Dean. "Our National Organizing Day is an important and unprecedented step to start earlier than ever to organize, mobilize, and energize our grassroots supporters and volunteers as we prepare for Democratic victories in November. But, this event is just one critical part of our overall effort to rebuild the Democratic Party by organizing and standing up for what we believe in."
In addition to these organizing events, the DNC has created online tools that allow volunteers to create their own canvassing events, invite their neighbors, and download tips, resources and door-hangers. The list of events, images of the door-hanger and resource materials are available at:

The DNC is committed to strengthening the State Party infrastructure to elect Democrats at all levels of government. Through this coordinated approach, a bolstered grassroots field organization will successfully elect Democrats at all levels - from the precinct to the White House. To date, more than 175 DNC-funded State Partnership Project staff have been hired locally and trained at the National Headquarters. These organizers make a 4-year commitment to work with the state party to build Democratic organizations in every single precinct in their states.
Last November, the DNC held over a thousand national organizing kick-off events highlighting the 50-state strategy of strengthening organizations locally a year in advance of the upcoming elections.
