IL State Senator Ricky Hendon: The type of Democrat we DON'T NEED!!!
Edited on Thu Apr-06-06 07:18 AM by undercoverduer
Please let Senator Hendon know how you feel about his behavior: hendon@senatedem.state.il.us

He is not up for re-election this year but I think he deserves a challenge his next time around! He is an Assistant Majority Leader, it might not be bad idea to let the Senate President know how you feel: jones@senatedem.state.il.us

Hendon tackles female colleague at game

April 6, 2006

BY DAVE MCKINNEY Sun-Times Springfield Bureau Chief

SPRINGFIELD -- State Sen. Rickey Hendon's conduct toward a woman again became an issue when he unexpectedly tackled a south suburban female lawmaker after this week's House-Senate softball game.

"I was shocked; that was my take. It came out of nowhere. We were in a line, saying 'Good game. Good game. Good game.' Then, he just came behind me and threw me on the ground," said state Rep. Robin L. Kelly (D-Matteson).

"I was very angry. I've calmed down now. But I thought it was very inappropriate," said the two-term lawmaker, who did not play and was dressed in work clothes when Hendon made contact with her.

And just last week he had to apologize for comments to another female colleague:

Hendon: Sorry about 'hazing'

March 29, 2006

SPRINGFIELD -- An assistant majority leader in the state Senate apologized Tuesday for sexually suggestive remarks he made a day earlier to a first-year colleague.

Chicago Democrat Rickey Hendon told Sen. Cheryl Axley he was sorry for comments he made during the ''hazing'' that occurs when rookies call their debut legislation.

The Mount Prospect Republican's proposal dealt with township government roads. Hendon, a senator since 1993, asked Axley whether her hair is naturally blonde, then asked if the 46-year-old newcomer would go ''on a township road with me later on tonight.''

1. wonder if he is as tasteless and obnoxious with the male
members of the Senate - in which case he is just a jerk; if it is reserved for the women in the chamber than he has a problem. Not alone there, however, seems a lot of men can not get used to dealing with women as colleagues. One would think that after the reaction to the first incident he would at least *think* before acting in the second incident.

2. Well he did tell a reporter who uncovered a secret meeting to kiss his ass

But Hendon seems to have been sending a different message behind the scenes. Last month, neighborhood activists spotted Hendon, Davis, Duncan and CBOE President Michael Scott in a back room at Edna’s. Scott is also a local real estate developer with substantial business interests in the gentrifying West Side neighborhood.

After being alerted about the gathering, reporters from a local public access show, Hood News, burst into the room, with video rolling. “Is this the sellout crew?” the reporter asked. “Is this a secret meeting about Collins High School?” Ricky Hendon told the reporters, “Kiss my ass!” while Davis went for his cell phone and called police.

None of the participants would tell reporters what was on the agenda for the secret meeting. It is illegal under the Illinois Open Meetings Act for multiple elected officials to meet about policy in secret.

But it soon became clear what deal had been made when the board announced that Collins High School would close as planned--but only for one year, according to the board.

3. Sounds like a real gem.
Sarcasm fully intended. When his next reelection? Are there good candidates in the pipeline?
