The summer of 1974, as captured by Gary Trudeau
Doonesbury was very funny that summer, with Joanie headed for law school, and Duke killing huge hairy bats with a ruler in his first appearance in the strip. Surprisingly few days (probably fewer than 20%) were spent on what was going on in Washington. Here's the wall sequence that I'll always remember.

Nixon resigned on August 8, 1974.

1. I still have a box full of my original newspaper clippings
of Doonesbury from that period; I'm sure that year is in my collection, that was about when I started

3. Sorta off topic
but does anyone have the strip where Zonker is telling a kid a story at the daycare center where Joanie works? It involves a sultan(?) and a genie(?) and the a reward of his weight in gold or a certain Turkish substance(not taffy). It was on the front page of the comics in the Sunday paper.
My how times have changed.
