It is loads of fun to watch the GOP alienate its own base. In the end, it will suck up to business like it always does. The scary part is what it will have to do in order to placate the Conservative Base. Three words: Nixon's Southern Strategy. Or, two words. Willie Horton. We are seeing signs of it already. Rep. McKinney. Pat Buchannan's advise that the GOP scare the crap out of its base by reminding them that a Democratic Congress means Charlie Rangel as a Committee Chair. Worse than usual hate talk from radio goons. It is only spring. Wait until things heat up this summer. African-americans stripped from voter rolls is going to look mild in comparison to what the RNC has planned this year. Hispanics will tossed into the mix, too.

Will it work? Dont know. A lot of people think Dick Cheney is way scary than anyone else they are likely to encounter on American soil.
