This is such BULLSHIT
If Plame's identity was declassified by the pResident why did we have an investigation for more than 2 years? Couldn't he have just told us he declassified it?
What type of idiots do they think we are?
TREASON committed by the president qualifies as high crimes! When will these self serving puss ball congress clowns pull their heads out of their asses and realize they have sold their honor for a bag of empty promises.

1. He didn't declassify it.
Had he done so there would be a 'Declassification Guide' that they could produce that officially declassifies the document or sections of the document.

See my post here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=2557135&mesg_id=2557135

And please k&r my post until we get an actual DU legal opinion on exactly what Executive Order 12958 and the Bush amendment to that order here:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2003/03/20030325-11.html
mean.

3. Very good point
If Bush had nothing to hide, why did he hide for two years?

6. Yah, no kidding. They are really twisting this around
They're ignoring the fact that it was a CIA agent's name that was leaked, not that classified information was leaked. Luckily, I don't think anyone is going to buy the distinction except for the most blind Bush loyalists.

8. Don't you see? If he TOLD us he'd done it, then the secret declassifying
Um, wait, no. What I mean is, the declassifying was done to protect the American people from Joe Wilson's discovery that, um. Wait, let me think.

Okay, here it is. We had to let the investigation continue because al-Iraqaeda cells hiding in the US would have otherwise figured out that, um, secret WMD programs were... um... you know, hard work.

Hard work.

9. Uh-huh. Why did Bush hire a criminal defense attorney in 2004?

And why did a "senior official" clearly state right off that this was purely an act of revenge?

What will it take to bring an end to the usual legislative foot-shuffling over "whether the President has broken the law" that always gives the usual teflon traitors plenty of time to re-work high crimes into palatable spin a la, violated the FISA law = "terrorist surveillance program."

12. He didn't declassify Plame's status. He couldn't
The protection of persons with covert status is covered by a completely different law than the ones which recognize the President's authority to declassify information.

'Course, Bush thinks he doesn't have to obey any laws. So I guess it doesn't matter much. He'd have done it in either case.

But he knows there's a difference. That's why he retained personal legal counsel back when the story first broke. I remember Clark questioning it at the time, but it didn't get much media play.

when was the last time a republican did that? Remember, DEMS have no real power to do anything leading to impeachment

14. Stop falling into the Repug TRAP!!!!
Libby NEVER said Bush authorised the declassification and leaking of Plame's identity!

Jesus, stop and think! Why would Libby confess to doing somehting that is a greater crime than he is charged with? Do people think he is an idiot? Do people think his lawyers are idiots? Please!!!

Don't fall for it!!!

Libby did NOT testify that Bush authorised the leak of Plame's identity, thus there is NO evidence that he did! The more you push this the more stupid Dems in general look! Stop making Dems look stupid!
