An open letter to trolls, freepers and anyone else who supports Bush
You guys have to be fucking blind, deaf and dumb, you know? You really are nothing but neanderthals, with the teeniest brains (and presumably dicks as well) and less smarts than the average cockroach.

Think about it. When Bill Clinton was in the White House, you scumbags whined, moaned, challenged and hated his administration with untold passion. And when the opportunity presented itself, you tried to impeach him.

You said it was because he lied. You said that he committed perjury, and told the country that he had not had a sexual relationship with Monica Lewinsky. Never mind that that had nothing to do with his job as president; never mind that it was a PERSONAL matter in which no one had any god-damned business to know about anyhow, but you prosecuted him because he LIED. And when the impeachment failed, you were royally pissed off and fought to make sure that Ken Starr found some more dirt on him so that even after he left the White House, he would be persecuted, and investigated. and never quite free from intense scrutiny regardless of what he did with his life afterward.

Okay, well, that time has passed. And guess what? You fucking assholes are the biggest god-damned liars and hypocrites that history has ever seen. You cared about a single lie from a Democratic president, but you ARE GIVING A PASS to the biggest liar, swindler and corruptest son of a bitch in U.S. history. And no, not ONLY the biggest, but the second biggest, the third biggest, and hell, the top TEN biggest liars in history, excepting two. In the top ten, I would certainly place Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan, but the rest belong to the current administration. You name them, they're on the list.

LIES have been the only real news coming out of the white house these days.
LIES have been perpetrated on the U.S. citizens now since January 21, 2001, and haven't STOPPED. If it wasn't one potential scandal, it's been another. And while we have been paying attention, you people have been not only tolerating this fucked up regime with your constant coddling and ability to ignore all the shit hitting the fan, but ALLOWING it TO CONTINUE!

ONE lie versus over 5 YEARS of LIES. You know, you guys often take the side that you're Christians as well, in supporting this regime. Well, I think that if your god would tolerate the evil and the contempt that this regime has shown us all, your god is really the one true Devil who walks the earth today. There is less good in George W. Bush that there was in Idi Amin, Pol Pot, Adolph Hitler, Mussolini, Qaddafi, Khrushchev, and any one of a dozen or so other despots in the world. He is PURE vile putrescence, and his only redeeming factor is that he makes both Reagan and Nixon look good.

I know you guys will never admit it, of course. That would be contradictory to your oath to never believe anything out of the mouth of a "liberal." Well, that okay to me. I guess you would rather lie to yourself, and show how utterly ignorant you really are. If you can continue to support this regime even now, you are no longer a human being, because any values, any respect you have for anything other than yourselves, is now gone, and YOU will burn in any self-conceived hell from this moment on.

When this administration is finally brought to its knees, those of us who have lived through this hell with open eyes will cry for joy--and cry in agony as well. Because of YOU and your continued support of this dictatorship the country we love will be in tatters, nearly ashes of all that is base and corrupt. We will be the scorn of the rest of the world. We will be laughed at by ALL nations, we will be the most hated nation on Planet Earth. We will never know the taste of true prosperity, and we will from now on be subjected to the mirth of other nations whose humanity is far greater than our own.

And think about it. A side issue is already encouraging this debasement of our country, in which you are a willing participant: trying to make the ignorance and preposterousness of creationism and "intelligent design" a part of our children's education. If you truly, truly believe in either, than you are doomed to the ludicrousness and ridicule that you so humbly deserve. Never mind that our country was once a great nation, but by supporting the lunacy of the radical religious right, you have failed our children in ways you can not possibly imagine. Germany, England, Japan, China, Sweden, Norway, Finland, India--EVERY SINGLE ONE of these countries and MANY MANY others are raising the scientists of the world--those who will someday take the world in directions we might never comprehend, while those raised in the good ole US of A will be their servants, their boot polishers, their paperboys and their whores.

I hate you all. You have changed the country in which I was raised--the country which I have loved for 50 years--and turned it into shambles, and without regret. I suppose you will get some reward for supporting this evil, but I'm hoping it will be visited upon you LONG before you die, and you get what you so richly deserve while we can ALL watch, and when pain and suffering will be YOURS and YOURS alone.

obvious to 99.5% of us. The other .5% wouldn't know truth until it bitch slaps them upside the head.

Many of them KNOW the truth, but since there is little profit in the truth to them, they choose to ignore it.

5. Others raising future scientists; US raising cannon fodder-cheap labor
I particularly identify with your observation that other countries are raising the scientists of the world - those who will lead the world in new directions. And god help them, because the earth's future depends upon their abilities to cope with the disatrous results of the GOP/Bush's policies, including contempt for the environment and speeding up of global warming.

Our flag-waving corporate elites are outsourcing engineering, high and low technical jobs to other countries. What will be left for our children and grandchildren? Europeans and Canadians see the U.S. as already over the edge on the slippery slope to long-term bankruptcy. China & India are forging economic alliances with Latin American countries and the U.S. foreign policy under Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rice is mired in the clusterfuck of the middle east, focused on their laughable attempts at nation-building and military domination. The thought that the US will become the source of cheap labor, replacing former third world countries, is truly horrifying. Even worse, the rest of the world may just choose to isolate us. Really, what good are we to them, now that we have lost our leadership in research, development and manufacturing? Bush's uberwealthy elite base don't have any worries because they've socked away enough millions to take care of their families in perpetuity.

25. That is one issue that I get very upset by
If the parents of our nation choose to be as stupid as shit, they shouldn't allow their children to be stupid as well. If I were a parent with children in school nowadays, I would make damned certain that my kid learn as much as possible about every part of the curriculum, even if it is tough and difficult to understand. When I was in school, it was pointed out to us often that while many of us would probably not be in some fields, learning a little about everything meant we would not face any circumstance blindly or without enough of a background to at least understand what was going on. Nowadays, children are lucky if they can spell, add 2+2 together, and know the state capitals.

And there is no wonder why the fuckers wanted his records sealed of his governorship in Texas. The secrecy alone should have been a red flag right from the start--they've hidden things from the US people that would have shown their complicity in many, many things that have been covered up even without ever reaching the press.

31. As a Bostonian
I was taught with reverence about the founding fathers who helped us become a country on our own. I learned the names of so many early patriots, some of whom are only known to a few scholars who have keep their contributions alive through the years. Whether it was George Washington or Crispus Attucks, we fought for a long deserved autonomy in which many died for believing in their vision of the future.

But obviously, the Freeptards don't give a crap! They don't care how many people have died for that piece of paper known as the Constitution. They want their Fuhrersmirk to become king and do away with the Constitution. Did you ever think that you would be witnessing this in your lifetime? I sure didn't! I thought I would be long dead before I'd see people not caring that our freedoms are being taken away, by a chickenhawk himself, and a fascist piece of work being passed off into legislation known as the <UN>Patriot Act. Sad state of affairs I tell ya.

About an article in Capitol Hill Blues. And I don't know if it was ever proven to be a real incident, but the comment was that Bush had a copy of the Constitution in his hand at one point and called it a "goddamned piece of paper."

You said just what I feel - how these hypocrites can sleep at night is beyond me. When I think of the things they did during the Clinton years - the constant harassment they gave him in order to stymie anything and everything he tried to get done, and see what these same slimebags are condoning from Bush today, it just makes me ill. For the first time in my life - I'm 45 - I can envision the day when America is a second-rate, has-been failure of a nation if something isn't done to get these people out of power - these "uberpatriot" morons. I really fear for my childrens' future and it really ticks me off how much damage they've done to our country in so short a time.

But if are to get our country back on track, and away from the hands of these pricks, we are going to need more than just help--we're going to need them to stay the fuck out of things for a long time to come. Yes, wishful thinking, I know. They've proven they really don't give a fuck, and that death and destruction are two of the very few vocabulary words they know and/or understand.

85. What's ironic is that is supposedly the true reason
behind the fifth amendment--to give the average family the "permission" to have weapons, to use them against tyrants. I don't think the founding fathers ever took into consideration how bad this infection could spread. Now, with possession of all the branches of the legislature in their hands, a revolution (or coup) against the government would be completely ineffectual. And those morons with double digit IQs would be guarding the robber barons anyhow. There IS NO failsafe anymore to count on.

80. One thing you missed....
Excellent post! But one thing you didn't touch on, and something that has troubled me since the day I heard bush had announced his intention to run for POTUS, is how any veteran could support him. As a veteran myself, and the son of a WWII silver and bronze star recipient (who's as liberal as they come BTW), I have never understood how any vet could support a man who essentially dodged the draft and most probably should have been charged with desertion, yet used his "service to his country" as one of his credentials. Not to mention Trigger Dick, who didn't "essentially" dodge service, but absolutely dodged it! Anyway, as much as I love my brothers and sisters who served, I can never take them seriously when they support a true fraud, liar, hypocrite and thief. Maybe they will see the light, as it appears a lot of our current service personnel are. I can only hope. Thanks again for the great rant!

89. As you are probably already aware
There are many veterans already at DU, and none of them support the resident at the white house. And there are many parents here as well--many of them fighting with their own demons of having their children in harm's way. Many of them have posted time and time again that many--not all, but a significant portion--of the soldiers already know the truth and hate him with more vehemence than they do the Iraqis or opposing troops. Many of them, however, are not in a position to speak out--they fear for their lives if they try--or the lives of loved ones elsewhere.

This war does not have the semblance of a "righteous war" as WWII or WWI did. In fact, most of the "wars" of the past 60 years haven't even been "real" wars--they have been skirmishes, battles, and conflicts, with fewer chances at a total victory than any significant war. And most of them--not all, but many--were fought to "introduce" people in other cultures the so-called benefits of capitalism and "democracy." Jon Stewart made a comment on that about two weeks ago--he was talking about how Israel's recent election brought "only" 65+% of voters out, and how those in our country only brought out 40% or below. He concluded with, "They should come here and teach us about democracy!" He couldn't have been more correct--the apathy in the US is great and it's a shame that so many people really don't seem to give a damned about exercising their civil right to vote. Perhaps the next "war" in our country will be a civil one again, but the battlelines will be drawn between these hypocrites and those of us who really DO give a damn.

I know how you feel. My best friend is among those who have started to come around. She is a fundie as well, but she is truly generous, and never allows her personal beliefs to get in the way of her better judgement.

On St. Paddy's day, she and I went to her brother's for dinner. Her brother and SIL tend to be repubs, but they were strangely silent all night long on current politics--something they were NOT silent about just a year ago. But I think that the eyes of many have been opened up in this past year--unfortunately, it's too late to have prevented a second term in the white house for these criminals. Another friend quietly pointed out after the final results in November 2004, that perhaps the election was one year too soon. And I think he is right--they were able to bamboozle people just long enough to ensure that "victory."

It's sad, but people tend to be ignorant on purpose about politics. It's something I could never do again, as when I was young.

Long after these fuckers are gone, our country will be needing help for many things, and we'll be "on our own" and no one will come. Even our "best" friends--Mexico and Canada--look with disdain at our current government. I won't be surprised if neither of them wants to see the assholes any time soon. If I recall, on his recent trip to Mexico, the Mexicans couldn't wait to clean up when he was gone, getting rid of that stench was compulsory.

98. If we could get more people riled up
who aren't as technically connected as we are, it would be a sight to see a million+ marching on DC. I know we can get our backs into such an endeavor, but we need to get a more solid grasp on those who are ordinary people without knowledge of our online solidarity. There needs to be some brainstorming in order to get that side of things going, but once the foundation is laid, we can show that more of us care than they thought.

A great rant, by the way. He has destroyed our country in ways that no one could have guessed. Even someone who knew him and his evil ways well, Molly Ivins is probably shocked at what he has done to our country.

Which president has served this country so badly? Jackson? He allowed the same kind of sickening religiosity into DC.

99. There definitely have been other bad presidents
but it's difficult to compare someone from another era with the monsters in DC today. Even the worst president of the 19th century never had the kind of influence worldwide that this group of evildoers has had. With our world now globally linked, with instantaneous communications and the ability to reach nearly all parts of the earth with speed unheard of then, we have the ability, dangerous as it might be, to affect way too many people, and to destroy too much.

Within the technological era, there has been no president as destructive as GWB. Even Nixon's shenanigans were child's play in comparison. And those who seek the top chair, we need to be ever mindful that the leader needs to not only be someone worthy of respect and who shows good judgement, but that they need to be also a representative to the whole world of what America "used" to be about. This regime certainly is not a good example of what we're supposed to be about.

100. Today, Nixon's policies and good results would be viewed as socialist.
The EPA, social security, Medicaid, wage legislation, tax reform (much more fair for the middle class), SALT, China, and more.
Yes, he was a criminal, yes he broke the law, but frankly, Today, I would much prefer him to any other GOP as president.

Remember that most of what the Bushistas are attacking and taking down is not some LBJ or FDR prrogram but NIXONIAN programs.

This regime is the antithesis of what we used to be. I have written before, if we had a choice, and GWBush made one decision, if we actually did exactly the opposite, our country would be in far better shape.

Great rant, btw. It's becoming increasingly difficult to be around my repub relatives. When I last pointed out to one sibling (my mother overheard this part) that my kids are in debt to the tune of over $30K because of BushCo's** disastrous foreign and domestic policies it didn't matter 'cause they got their fuckin' tax cuts and to hell with everything else. Less available to educate them with now and even fewer jobs...their futures don't look so bright.

I remember being awake for 3 days starting with election night of '00, and I could envision the futures of my kids being flushed down a huge toilet, but I guess I thought that there would be more outrage about it from those on the right at some point.

I know what you mean. I recall going to bed around 1 in the morning the night of the election in 2000. The early count and call was for Gore, and that made me happy. But then the next day I heard that things were not as easily summed up and I went crazy knowing that the GOP had fucked the election up completely. The very fact that the state of FLORIDA, where the chimp's brother was the governor, was going to determine the outcome, was enough to make me very sad indeed.

There had been many signs that an apocalypse was on its way early, but people seemed to ignore the truth. The media still had their teeth around Clinton's leg, and they wouldn't let go. The only sanity I had I got online, from some groups early on that showed what a bunch of assholes was taking over our country. I knew then we were in as deep shit as we could ever be.

113. I wish I could get others as riled up
as it is fairly easy to get those at DU going, since we're already aware of how this has gone down. But those who need to be influenced are either not online, or not involved in any way with political discussion.

And while I know I had to get this out of my mind and onto paper, I know that those to whom it is addressed are not going to listen--they never will. Their ignorance is not so much one of intellect, but of principle, of compassion and of reality. They can not bear to think that they have been wrong for so long that they will fight the issue until the bitter end. And yes, the end will be bitter for them, but it will also be bitter for those of us who know what price we have paid to be aware of the truth all along.
