Here is a story you won't believe
Josh Marshall of Talking Points Memo is reporting tonight that former FEMA head Michael Brown might become a paid consultant to St. Bernard Parish. No talk are under way, but Brown is scheduled to visit the Parish next week. St. Bernard Parish might use Brown as a guide to help navigate the bureaucracy of federal storm aid.

This begs a question. Is this the same Michael Brown, who utterly fucked up the aftermath of Katrina, along with his boss, that he was fired for it?? Now St. Bernard Parish wants to use him as a consultant??:wtf:

Former FEMA director might become consultant for St. Bernard Parrish

Former FEMA director Michael Brown might be joining St. Bernard Parish as a paid consultant.

Brown, who resigned his FEMA post last September in the wake of stinging criticism of the agency's response to Hurricane Katrina, is expected to visit the parish next week. During his visit, Brown and parish officials will discuss the possibility of the parish contracting with Brown as a guide to help it navigate the bureaucracy of federal storm aid.

Brown now has a consulting business.

St. Bernard Parish President Henry "Junior'' Rodriguez said prices have not been discussed to this point, nor have any contracts been entered. Rodriguez and three council members met Brown recently during a trip to Washington, D.C.

2. he has opened a consulting firm (alas, right up the road from me) and
there are people who think that his "experience" will be of benefit to them in traversing the federal bureaucracy maze.

5. He couldn't traverse the federal bureaucracy when he was
in it.

What he did for the people of Bernard Parish the first time, he'll do for them the second time.

Consulting firm? All they do is get rich. Get a government job, drown the people of New Orleans, then get rich. Quite a racket. When will RICO charges be brought?

And I don't like it. There is something unwholesome about this development. Contacts? Contracts? Payoffs? What do you guys suppose is happening here?

7. I think Brownie is trying to change his image
he knows he took a hit with Katrina, and he's trying to get it back.

8. you-scratch-my-back -i-scratch-yours, aka corruption, is widespread
Understand that, and developments such as this one are no longer strange.
The system has become unwholesome. We need to fix it.
