3. So it's because they have a large market cap?
Does the same go for Microsoft?

4. Remember Microsoft ended up in BUsh's camp in 2000.
Feared anti trust actions Democrats might favor.

7. I know what you are trying to do, from experience it is sometimes hard
to boycott a company, for instance, in a previous post I said my broadband provider is NTL, Microsoft had a 24% stake in the company, with no viable alternative I have to grit my teeth and stump up and Bill Gates gets even richer. <rant> Incidently after the buyout my cable only has full functionality with Micro$oft approved products, other systems were blocked even though they had worked fine previously. </rant>

Similarly with Nestle, the food conglomerate, it is nearly impossible to but any dairy product or confectionary that isn't owned by Nestle, in a local grocery this morning I waned a bar of chocolate and could only find two in the whole shop from a choice of about fifty candy bars. It seems like they own the whole damn world, don't even get me started on trying to buy fairtrade goods.

I appreciate what you are trying to do and I wish you well but be prepared to be VERY frustrated.

8. Seeds. Planting seeds....
Every person doing what they can is all we need. Can you imagine if they lost 1% of their sales. They'd go appshit.

9. I kinda wish my dad would think like this
He's been voting straight democratic tickets since George McGovern but yet he is a frequent Wal-Mart shopper. I'd think that if at all else, their political contributions to Republicans would keep him away. I don't expect him to fully boycott, I'll presonally drop 5 bucks there about once a year if EVERY other viable alternative (including Target) doesn't have what I need. My dad on the other hand just seems to love Wal-Mart. It's the most weird thing ever.

14. Psst Rip Van Catchawave, Dave's on CBS now
Edited on Sat Apr-08-06 11:53 PM by 1932
CBS was just spun off from it's corporate owner and is arguably the most independent media company out there as a result. They now do nothing but broadcast TV.
