"If they wanted to declassify information to sell this war whey didn't the
just call a press conference" - Contessa Brewer on MSNBC (I might have paraphrased a bit)

Excellent point!!!! Why try to sell a war by doing surreptitious things? If it is all legal why not just come out and say it?

1. Then maybe someone would have had the brains to ask what other
information they had classified that maybe the American public should know about. Like whether or not what they were saying was true, that they had proof Iraq had WMDs or the aluminum tubes were positively for nuclear weapons, etc.

6. Of course the simple answer is ...
Edited on Sat Apr-08-06 12:32 PM by Kablooie
They didn't want to declassify the info.
They wanted to secretly leak still classified information to destroy an opponent knowing full well it was false and he was correct.
This way they don't have anyone investigating how bogus their info is.
They only spout 'declassify' once they are caught.

7. It is an excellent question.
Wish someone would ask it...

We know the answer of course. This is all just part of the Bushie's (yet unpunished) use of the NYT's Judith Miller for propaganda.
