Plame in a nutshell....(correct where wrong)
1. Bush lied to Congress (a felony) in the SOTU. He knew the Niger Uranium Claim was false, and that the aluminum tubes were for conventional, not nuclear weapons.

2. Bush started the War in Iraq, continuing to lie to the American people.

3. Joe Wilson revealed Bush's lies about Saddam seeking uranium from Africa.

4. Bush goes bat-shit crazy. He decides that Wilson has to be discredited. Bush authorized plan to discredit Wilson. Bush "leaks" via Cheney to Libby to Miller--- PART of the NIE that tends to support the aluminum tubes argument, all the time knowing what the rest of the report said that solidly refuted that argument.

5. Cheney (probably in conversation with Bush), who asked for Wilson to go to Africa in the first place decides to out Plame as being "Wilson's wife, Valerie Plame" as a CIA operative. Rove and somebody else tells Novak, who writes the article outing Plame.

6. George Tenet gets really pissed that the major spy operation (Brewster & Jennings) dealing with WMD in IRAN gets shut down because of the leak, putting his agents' lives in grave danger. He asks the Justice Department to Investigate.

7. Justice Dept. names Patrick Fitzgerald to investigate. Libby, Rove and others obstruct justice and lie to cover up all of the administration's violations of the Espionage Act. Libby is indicted, and the investigation continues.

8. Through a recent filing by Patrick Fitzgerald we now learn that the leaker of the classified documents that Bush was "looking for to fire," was Bush, himself.

9. In the meantime, the illegal war in Iraq claims 2300+ troops lives, and more than 16,000 American casulties, some of the troops permanently disabled. 100,000+ innocent Iraqi citizens are killed, and Bush authorizes, against the Geneva and Hague Conventions the torture of prisoners (most of whom turned out to be innocent), maiming many and killing more than 100.

10. Republicans, failing in their oversight duties, continue to kiss Bush's ass!

Did I miss anything, or get any of it out of order?

PREWAR INTELLIGENCE
Insulating Bush
By Murray Waas, National Journal
© National Journal Group Inc.
Thursday, March 30, 2006

Karl Rove, President Bush's chief political adviser, cautioned other White House aides in the summer of 2003 that Bush's 2004 re-election prospects would be severely damaged if it was publicly disclosed that he had been personally warned that a key rationale for going to war had been challenged within the administration. Rove expressed his concerns shortly after an informal review of classified government records by then-Deputy National Security Adviser Stephen J. Hadley determined that Bush had been specifically advised that claims he later made in his 2003 State of the Union address -- that Iraq was procuring high-strength aluminum tubes to build a nuclear weapon -- might not be true, according to government records and interviews.

Hadley was particularly concerned that the public might learn of a classified one-page summary of a National Intelligence Estimate, specifically written for Bush in October 2002. The summary said that although "most agencies judge" that the aluminum tubes were "related to a uranium enrichment effort," the State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research and the Energy Department's intelligence branch "believe that the tubes more likely are intended for conventional weapons."

4. That about sums it up.
In that Bush committed a felony that resulted in the deaths of 10,000+ people I believe he and the rest of his co-conspirators are eligible for the federal death penalty. First they have to be impeached and convicted and removed from office, then they have to be indicted, tried, convicted and punished according to the laws of the land.

p.s. I am against the death penalty, even for sociopathic mass murderers like bush.

Card leaving. Delay, Abramoff, Libby et al indicted. Sound familiar?

Rove and Tenet will probably get indicted because they have not been asked to be witnesses.

NO Repubs coming to *'s defense??? Sound more familiar?

Threats to fire Fitz - remember how well this worked when Nixon fired Archibald Cox. :sarcasm:

9. A couple of nits
Point 5: All we know is that somebody in Cheney's office requested the CIA look into the matter of Saddam attempting to buy yellow cake from Niger. The CIA sent Wilson, who was more than qualified for the assignment.

Point 8: Bush authorized the leak of parts of the NIE, but spefically Plame's identity. In any case, he knew what was going on while he was pretending he didn't.

In my proposed impeachment articles, lying to start the war is Article 1 and the unmasking of Ms. Plame and declassifying or leaking classified documents for personal gain is Article 5.

They SAY they "released" the NIE info -- to inform everyone, you know, but in secret -- yet were completely unaware that Libby leaked Plame's identity as part of that package. Who at the White House could have imagined it was Libby -- even though Libby was leaking (excuse me, "providing")info to the very same reporters at the very same time about the very same subject matter?? :sarcasm:

11. OK, your nit about my nit is a point well taken
Of course, it brings up the obvious question about the whole matter:

If the President (or a White House squatter acting as President) has the right to declassify documents at will, if this was done for the public good and if it was done to get information out to counter alleged misconceptions from Mr. Wilson's piece in
The New York Times, why were they so secretive about declassifying the document?

12. That's one of the key questions.
Why did Scooter have to be called an anonymous "former Hill staffer?" Why did so few people know it was declassified, if in fact it was?

And, by what process does the Preznit "automatically" declassify? There are no forms, stamps, signatures, filings, briefs, notifications, nothing -- he just waves his magic banana and it's instantly declassified?? And if there IS a process, did he follow it?

If there ISN'T a process beyond the magic banana, then that means he could, at any time, instantly declassify anything at all, for political advantage -- from state secrets damaging to his opponents, to the names of CIA agents.

how did jimmy/jeff gannon/guckert get involved in THIS?

OH! squattin' for a squatter. nevermind.

just an attempt at levity, although it is a very serious matter.

and also, wasn't there the possibility that brewster jennings (the front for following wmd information) had discovered the administration's plan for PLANTING WMD? therefore they had to be taken down and completely discredited?

maybe all of the info about that will start leaking...

25. Brewster Jennings was nothing but a name
Didn't I read a couple of years ago that the address for Brewster Jennings was an empty office? Ms. Plame works in Langley.

As for somebody discovering plans to plant WMDs, we can't prove there were such plans. If there were, then, obviously, they were never implemented. They undoubtedly knew that Saddam didn't possess WMDs in the quantities they claimed, but perhaps they thought they find something and that it would be enough to satisfy most people. I doubt they thought that a few conspiracy theories about Saddam handing his weapons off the Syrians that are floating about these days would have believed by anybody except those who desperately want to believe that Bush wouldn't lie to them.

32. Brewster Jennings
"Sibel Edmonds has long suspected that Brewster Jennings was intentionally outed because they were getting too close to uncovering an arms/drug trafficking network through Turkey - specifically with the help of Feith and Perle."

http://wotisitgood4.blogspot.com/2006/01/sibelology.html

“Dick Cheney is directly responsible for the leaking of Valerie Plame’s name that resulted in sabotaging her CIA career and her cover company, Brewster, Jennings & Associates. CIA operations that were compromised by the leak were associated with A.Q. Khan’s network of nuclear smuggling. Khan’s network, vast enough to be dubbed by IAEA chief Mohamed El Baradei a “nuclear Walmart”, was examined here for the connections it has with terrorist organizations and state sponsors, as well as areas in which the CIA could have been following their activities.
It proves conclusively that Dick Cheney knew about A.Q. Khan’s nuclear Walmart as early as 1989, and chose not to expose the network but to profit from it, which gives him the strongest motive to blow Valerie Plame’s cover. State sponsors of terror that were proven recipients of Cheney’s nuclear proliferation include Pakistan, Libya and possibly Iran. The links between Khan and Cheney involved suppliers from other countries designed to blur the source of the components, but research concludes individuals affiliated with collaborative companies such as Cognis and their investor Goldman Sachs would be the most obvious links in the chain. Such links also exist in the case of Donald Rumsfeld profiting through ABB’s $200 million sale of nuclear equipment to North Korea, which would prove that Halliburton profited from this example of nuclear proliferation as well.”

14. #8: Depends on what the meaning of "leak" is, supposedly...
And what the meaning of "declassified" is...

What they're now admitting is that they DID give Scooter a package of classified information to secretly pass along to reporters...

Conveniently, in the act of doing that, they supposedly declassified it....

The purpose was not to sell cherry-picked info to discredit Wilson, but to keep the public uh, informed. So they did nothing illegal, they say, and it was all above board...

Which doesn't explain why so few people knew THAT it was declassified, or WHEN, or HOW; nor does it explain why Scooter had to act in secret, not even using his name OR his real position. ("Former Hill Staffer" - hah! No obfuscation there!)

And finally, we're supposed to believe that in this package of information, there was not a word about Valerie Plame. Rove didn't even know her name. They were shocked -- shocked! -- to find out her name had been leaked by someone in the White House!! Leaked to Novak, as well as Judith Miller and Matt Cooper. Despite the fact that Scooter had been talking TO Miller and Cooper, ABOUT Joe Wilson and the Niger claim, AT that same time, and that these two were in legal hot water over it, Chimpy just couldn't FATHOM the idea -- couldn't connect any dots, couldn't imagine -- that Scooter included that info in his conversations.

The whole THING is absurd, and anybody who believes it is either terribly misinformed or lying to themselves.

33. YES. I'm glad you brought this up...
Libby says "THE MEETING" in July was to tell Miller anout the 'key judgements' in the NIE report, and that he brought a copy of it to the meeting. BUT I read in the last few days that Miller had written an article a week or so BEFORE the meeting, containing exactly these key points, "nearly VERBATIM".

It does appear that she was given the NIE info WELL before the July 8 meeting with Libby. Either someone else had already been leaking to Judy (Bolton?) or Libby is lieing through his teeth, he had already given it to her and the info he brought to the meeting was Plame.

It appears that the NIE was leaked a good week or so before Libby admits.

??????????

If someone can remember which article this is and has a link, I'd sure appreciate it.

"WHITE HOUSE
Secret Service Records Prompted Key Miller Testimony
By Murray Waas, special to National Journal
© National Journal Group Inc.
Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005
New York Times reporter Judith Miller told the federal grand jury in the CIA leak case that she might have met with I. Lewis (Scooter) Libby on June 23, 2003 only after prosecutors showed her Secret Service logs that indicated she and Libby had indeed met that day in the Executive Office Building adjacent to the White House, according to attorneys familiar with her testimony."

17. Go back to Jan. 2001, Enron & California. It starts there.
-5. Ken Lay was Bush's biggest donor. His company is failing. He needs money. Thomas White has said that Enron can get the oney it needs from "California". But Clinton but in place energy price caps.

-4. One of Bush's first acts as president is to roll back energy price caps.Enron is now free to manipulate the energy market and drive the price of electricty in California as high as it would like.Karl Rove, big buddy of Ken Lay, recommends appointee to be head or FERC who in turn refuses to do jack shit about California's complaints that Enron is price gouging California.Cheney publically mocks California and Grey Davis.

-3. Summer 2001 federal judge says that Enron is price gouging California. Shit begins to hit the fan (i.e business world takes notice)

-2. Lots and lots and lots of scandal. (WH is busy covering its tracks in Florida, Texas, California)

-1. Jump ahead to March, 2003. FERC is scheduled to release its report about the so called California Energy Crisis of 2001 in which they will say that Enron price gouged California. Everyone will remember that Bush facilitated this by rolling back price caps, Thomas White said "California", Rove's pick for FERC did nothing to stop it. However, just one week before the announcement is scheduled to be made, Bush Administration forces through the invasion of Iraq---a totally voluntary, unnecessary war. So this story gets front page coverage only in California.

Anyone who still believes that Karl Rove would hesitate to move up the start date of the Iraq War to cover up the mother of all scandals, the Bush Administration's complicity in Enron's rape of california needs to take up a new hobby, because you are too naive for politics.
