Some bits from Sy Hersh's New Yorker article.

The lack of reliable intelligence leaves military planners, given the goal of totally destroying the sites, little choice but to consider the use of tactical nuclear weapons. “Every other option, in the view of the nuclear weaponeers, would leave a gap,”

“Nuclear planners go through extensive training and learn the technical details of damage and fallout—we’re talking about mushroom clouds, radiation, mass casualties, and contamination over years. This is not an underground nuclear test, where all you see is the earth raised a little bit. These politicians don’t have a clue, and whenever anybody tries to get it out”—remove the nuclear option—“they’re shouted down.”

“There’s no pressure from Congress” not to take military action, the House member added. “The only political pressure is from the guys who want to do it.” Speaking of President Bush, the House member said, “The most worrisome thing is that this guy has a messianic vision.”

I think I'm going to go throw up now.

2. If we nuke Iran, I'm taking my family and leaving the United States...
...not out of shame for my country (although I will be deeply ashamed and horrified) but because it won't be safe to live here, anymore. :scared:

3. dumb asses -- Japan attacked the US and the US and Japan
were at war.

Still I feel the dropping of the nukes on Japan was still morally unjustified.

Japan should take the lead in condemning even the idea of using the bomb -- even tactical nukes or bunker busters on Iran.

Right now the US is an outlaw nation -- because of that dumb ass in the white house and his invasion and war on Iraq.

It is up to the International community -- and perhaps the US military to call an end to the insanity in the white house. The US military would be a long shot -- because of the gutting of officers who might disagree with bushie or rummy.

Something has got to happen -- to break the strangle hold that bush has on too many people. We know now that he has been involved in wholesale spying on Americans -- probably anyone who might stand up to him.

He is a madman -- and we are really helpless.

As a military brat during the build up to the invasion of Iraq -- I knew the signs of hyper military activity. And I still marched against the war -- but I felt so helpless. Some people were also arguing that bushie was just playing a game of bluff that he really wouldn't invade Iraq. But the military wheels had already been set in motion.

This time another branch of the military seems to be preparing for a different sort of action. Contractors building equipment are saying that they've been told that orders are for the Iran war.

Bushie is a nut case -- and he doesn't use the same sort of logic that we normal people use. He can justify anything -- because it goes by his "gut" feelings.

If he carried out his insane plans -- thousands of innocent people will die -- many of the victims will be children and he will be even more guilty of crimes against humanity.

And there is nothing we can do -- he is absolutely CRAZY-- NUTS -- INSANE.

4. I know something similar has been said by a previous DUer
but I feel like I'm on a bus being driven by someone who just escaped from the mental asylum and the 30% of the people in the back row are going, "Everything's fine. Everything's fine..."
