NORTH COUNTY ---- With just days to go until Tuesday's special election, Datamar poll results released Friday show Democrat Francine Busby continuing to lead the pack of 18 candidates in the 50th Congressional District race.
But the Cardiff school board member is still 11 percentage points shy of what she will need to capture the seat outright, according the results released by the El Cajon-based company. To avoid a runoff election on the same day as the June primary, a candidate must win a majority of ballots cast Tuesday.
Busby, who in the latest polling garnered a 39 percent share, is one of only two Democrats in the race, whereas 14 Republicans and two other candidates are in the chase to replace former U.S. Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham, who pleaded guilty to tax evasion and bribery charges in a federal courtroom in late November.

Datamar's March poll had been roundly criticized by some campaign officials because he failed to rotate the order of the names that were read to respondents. By not rotating the names ---- a practice considered to be an industry standard ---- he produced a poll with skewed results, some said.
