WaPo is insane! Got up to this headline on MSNBC:
GOP sees disturbing reflection in the mirror
Democrats were accused of similar abuses of power before ouster in ’94

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12227907/

Yeah, I remember those days, Democrats tapping phones and searching houses without warrants, interfering in people's private medical decisions, trying to reverse state court decisions by passing special laws, putting folks away with no access to the courts, starting wars for bullshit reasons, giving tax cuts to the rich, $2.75 a gallon gas, not investigating attacks on our country, letting citizens die in natural disasters, etc. Not! THERE IS NO FUCKING SIMILARITY AT ALL!

This is not a reflection of the real 1994, it is a reflection of the fictional 1984. Who pays these people to spread this bullshit?

2. The bad checks were a hoax
Nobody wrote any bad checks. The Post is just repeating the RW smears of '94.

3. That's the trouble with disinformation
It doesn't go away.

Bushie has been paying close attention to the tactics of the fundies he courts. Throw down complete bullshit, and then reference the original bullshit in all following articles, novels, movies, assertions, arguments, sermons. Each new thing can footnote the last seven or eight, and voila! You have "sources" to prove your bullshit.

12. The bad checks were not a hoax.
The problem was that the House Bank didn't follow the same rules as other "real" banks. So a Member could write a check against funds they didn't have on account, and not have to settle up until the end of that Congressional session - which could be up to a year or more.

I had been working at a local retail store in 1991. The owners son had run for Congress the year before and lost. In Jan, the guy he had lost to - Bill Paxon - came in and asked to see him. I told him that the son usually didn't come into the store. (Like what, the smarmy Reptard thought that a lawyer well-respected in the community was going to be clerking in a suburban retail store just 'cause he lost an election?) Anyway - Paxon looked around & bought a few things, and paid with a check from the House Bank.

Now, at that time the rules for depositing a check was a little different from today. Local checks took about three days to clear or be returned, from downstate they took about a week. Out of state, they took about two weeks.

After we submitted Paxon's check, we expected it to clear in a couple weeks. It didn't. And it wasn't returned nsf either. Our bank didn't have any more info either.

After a couple more weeks we did get it back - with a slip saying so meting like "not submitted at this time". The check wasn't cashed, but it wasn't technically nsf either. We called our bank; they said to resubmit it. After another month it was returned to us again. It took about five months an several more rounds before we finally got paid.

The House Bank scandal involved about 330 members of Congress and never totaled more than $3 million.

$3 million pays for almost 18 minutes in Iraq.

7. The Pukkkes spent all the Clinton years concocting bogus "scandals"
to try to destroy his effectiveness as president. They didn't support America, they were supporting their partisan plan to have a one-party US with THEM in charge for a generation so they could shove all their priggish "values" (which they themselves scorn) on to the populace--and make a whole lot of cash under the table. They deliberately cultivated lies, shame and hatred to further their plans, elements in our politics that used to be small and not powerful.

NONE of those scandals panned out. There was nothing there to find. But the hatred and distrust they planted grew and grew with their power.

Now we are RULED by lies. Thanks, Republicans. You got your way. I hope you like your America that you made.

6. Sometimes I wonder if the Reps were ready to run him out on a rail....
before he was even born. ;)

How some of them react to Bill Clinton has always been irrational and illogical but in the light of all that Bush has done (and doing) and the fact that they still rabidly support and even adore HIM makes them look even more totally wacko then ever.

the squeaky clean boy scout Newt, in comparison to Delay.

Funny, the article doesn't mention how Newt's congressional career ended...
