Kerry supports Feingold censure?
Edited on Sun Apr-09-06 08:30 AM by elizm
He just said that on Meet the Press. Is that new? Has he said that before now?

1. He said it the other day, on Hardball.
May have also said it on CNN with blitzer.

About freakin' time.

3. He seems always a little late on the start....
....but I'll take whatever we can get right now. Hope he doesn't think this will improve his chances in 2008, though. Might have made a difference with me if he had stood with Feingold from the beginning.

8. His office has been answering the same thing since Feingold made
the proposal, but he had not gotten public on it until Thursday.

11. John Kerry publicly supported the Feingold censure before
the so called Senate hearing on the subject..There were two Senators that publicly supported Feingold ..the other was Senator Harkin

14. He still hasn't signed on as a Co-Sponsor..
It's nice that he publicly states that he supports it... but he really ought to sign on as a Co-Sponsor, imo. it has more meaning and is more lasting.

12. So....
You only care about censure?

What about investigating the DSM?

Feingold was more than "a little late" on that - he never got on board at all.

http://blog.thedemocraticdaily.com/?page_id=1022

Scroll to the bottom and read the names - no Feingold. Kerry didn't run around calling those who didn't sign the letter "cowering" - I guess some folks here think he should have, though.

The thing is, there are reasons we can't possibly know about behind how these things play out. Kerry never rebuked Feingold for bringing up his censure motion (as I believe some Dems did); his office said he was behind it from the first. Considering Feingold apparently didn't shop his idea around at all with guys like Kerry - no one's saying he had to ask the right wing of the party to approve it, just that he could've given a little more heads up to the guys who would be sympathetic - I don't think it's fair for you all to bash Kerry or anyone else about not bowing at Feingold's feet the moment he introduced it. And it's especially unfair to say that about Kerry, given Feingold's failure to support him on DSM - and Kerry did shop that around for at least a couple of weeks.

2. Yes, just this past week. Kerry's doing great with Timmy's gotcha
questions--one after another. What a patently transparent Republican shill Russert is! Kerry handled him beautifully.

6. Hi, flpoljunkie. I liked your description of Tim Russert. His journalism
is a kind of trapdoor journalism.

I think Kerry's a pretty smart cookie and comes very prepared to things like interviews and debates.

Liked your post.

13. Surprising to see Russert go after J.D. Hayworth at end of show. Hayworth
was not amused. He seemed surprised that Timmy would expose his connections to Abramoff, leadership PAC which employs his wife and takes contributions from those he is a position to help. How sweet it would be to send this loudmouth scumbag home to Arizona in November!

15. The bluer the better. I didn't see the interview, but I don't think
too many of us would miss Hayworth.

Go, Dems.

I think that settles that debate.

7. Kerry on CNN
He also said something hilarious to Wolfie the other night on CNN. About Bush being the top "leaker" and how Bush claimed two years ago he would pursue whoever it was that leaked ... Kerry said, (loose quote) "apparently he was looking for himself for two years"

9. My first thought when I heard Kerry say that on Wolfie's show was,
no wonder Bush can't find bin Laden, he can't even find himself! I thought Kerry did a great job on MTP this morning. He was in full command the entire time and never let Timmy get the upper hand to spew his bushshit.

BTW, welcome to DU crappyjazz!

22. I missed the Russert Interview
But I'll try to watch it later today when it replays on MSNBC.....

But I still think that Censure and Impeachment talks BEFORE the 2006 vote are not constructive to a strategy in winning back the congress. We don't have the votes for either right now...and I still feel strongly on principle that censure doesn't even begin to fit the crimes committed (some of course feel that proposing a slap on the hand is worth something)..... But of course....that's just my opinion.
