Mary Jo Kilroy, a Franklin County (Columbus) Commissioner, is challenging Deborah Pryce (#4 in the Repub Congressional hierarchy) in Ohio's 15th District. The polls show Kilroy to be very competitive, although, as of now, she trails Pryce in name recognition. Since the 15th has been trending increasingly Democrat, we have a real chance of taking this seat for the 1st time in years. The following is an email from the Kilroy campaign. Send her a couple bucks and help us Blue-up the Ohio Congressional delegation! Thanks
"This Wedneseday is a very important day for the Kilroy campaign -- and for anyone who wants to help us change Congress.
For most congressional campaigns in the country, March 31st was a critically important deadline (the cut-off date for fundraising, after which the amount they have raised will be reported in local and national media). The same was true for us here in Ohio, but the FEC changed our deadline in the last few weeks to this Wednesday, April 12.
Anyone considering sending a contribution in the near future will provide the greatest support by making sure we receive it by this Wedneday. The best way to do that is online at www.KilroyForCongress.com.
I urge you to pass this message along to anyone and everyone you think might want to help. Contributions ranging form $25 to $1000 have come in over the Website, and it is an easy and safe process.
Checks mailed by today (or maybe Tuesday, from the Columbus area) can be sent to Kilroy for Congress, P.O. Box 2582, Columbus OH, 43216-9710.
For anyone in the Columbus area, we also have volunteers standing by to pick up checks between now and the end of Wednesday (taking calls at 614-744-2344).
Recent polls and our interactions all across the district show this is a race we can win if we have the money. And with Tom DeLay out of the running, Deborah Pryce is the most vulnerable, high profile member of the Bush-DeLay leadership left. This race provides the best opportunity for us to send Bush a message that we are heading in the wrong direction, and that it is time for a change."
