So sick of Specter's flirtation with integrity, truth and justice..
His current comments telling the Bushies to come clean about the Bush leaks is all a bullshit smokescreen and he has pulled this same stunt before.

This is what he does: he seemingly chastises the Bush Whitehouse to placate his own ego and phony integrity and then actually helps them out by helping them mold their message and offer them cover. How it works is that somehow he has seemed to attain the mythical "maverick" status, yells a bit while standing on a pedestal of clay and then comes back and ends up saying that all is above board now that he has all of the complete information.

How many times has he pulled this stunt off? Alito? NSA spying? And now this.

So everybody mark my words - eventually Bush will make some additional comments and Specter will rally to his defense and say what Bush did really was in the best interests for America and not illegal.

2. Hey, give Arlen a break!
He has to practice and dabble in integrity for another few years before he develops sufficient spine to execute it himself.

5. When Arlen was being treated for cancer
I had hoped it was a "come to jesus" moment. Wrong again, same-o, same-o.

9. He is the only "near to death" person I've ever seen who was
not somehow "cleansed" by the experience. Specter is as devious as ever.

11. What about when Falwell was near death in the hospital a year or so ago...
with that respiratory thing? He certainly hasn't been cleansed. I don't remember the exact details. I try to forget he exists.

But I completely agree about Specter. And I'm from Pennsylvania so I tend to give him more excuses/respect than he actually deserves as I would give just about anything for a halfway decent Senator...seeing as my other choice is Santorum.

6. Specter is a man of integrity. Do you think junior would have
any less of a man than Specter doing his bidding?

Specter has two timed the Democratic folks one time two many. But its still good enough to make junior happy. Oh hum, so goes Specter.

And I have no doubt it's part of the ongoing strategy. And it actually makes sense that it would work on the less informed masses. They haul this guy out to say "wait a minute! We need an explanation of this!" and then a couple weeks later he says, "now that I have all of the facts, I can assure the American people that this is all above board".

The masses swallow it up. They think, "Gee, this guy was just like me - he wanted more facts - and now that he sees what it's all about, he's satisfied. That's good enough for me!"

What this nation needs is a class called "critical thinking 101" in schools.

12. His act is growing stale
He takes the role of the virtuous foil who, in the end, forgives the corrupt Bush admin.

If he were truly a virtuous person who believed in holding Bush accountable, he would have done more long before now.

Better to have Specter as your Greek chorus than the Dems.
