Explain this sentence to me, please.
"The efforts resemble the outsourcing of party operations in 2004 to the so-called shadow Democratic Party."

I am trying hard not to over-react to this article, trying very hard. I am keeping my comments few for now. I just want to know what this comment means in the context of the article.

1. I dunno, but I will say that was one of the least interesting articles...
...I've tried to read in a long time. Maybe it's just because it's the end of the day and I'm tired, but I couldn't get past the first couple of paragraphs. Gasbag is the term that came to mind....

3. Oh, it is an interesting article in many ways.
I am just being cautious in what I say for now.

6. ok, must just be me-- it's been a long day...

...and I just couldn't whip up any enthusiasm for it. Maybe I should have said "least compelling" instead of "least interesting."

2. I don't know, but my guess would be a group of politically strong
Dems who worked behind the scenes to push whatever agenda they were working on at the time.

4. MoveOn.org
I think they're referring to MoveOn.org (or moveon along w/similar orgs) who did a lot of the grassroots work for the Dem party in 2004

7. That's how I take it too
Not the "public face" in D.C. but the grassroots (internet organizers).

5. It seems to me to be the author's personal view, not really part
of the article. I read it as being activist Dems and liberal groups, dissatified with the Party bosses, launching their own effort to increase Dem support amongst Hispanics.

It could also be a poor choice of words.

8. I found this little gem noteworthy...
Edited on Tue Apr-11-06 07:43 PM by stillcool47
DNC officials helped organize the rallies and promote the party at the gatherings.

Miranda said that DNC staffers in Washington were given Monday off to help organize the rallies and that organizers in other states were encouraged to support them.

...while immigration is obviously a hot-button item to many here, these massive demonstrations stink to high heaven to me. The coordination, transportation, and organization in so many states....this has many sponsors, and it has been blessed by the powers that be. And, concerning your question...I took it to mean "K-Street"...or other focus/advertising/image-making/con-artists.
