What is YOUR Repub governor doing to look like a Democrat?
The most famous recent action is Romney's signing of a health care bill in Massachusetts. Here in Maryland, our stinkpot Repub governor, Nazi Bob Ehrlich, signed a stem cell research funding bill.

This kind of crap happens every election cycle. After a full term of oppressive governance, the Repub always makes some grand gesture that has all the appearances of caring about We The People.

Of course, the devil is in the details. In the case of our new stem cell bill, the governor, with no check or balance by the legislature, gets to say how much actual funding gets alloted. The amount of 'zero' is a possible allotment.

What legislative 'jewels' have come along in your state as your Republicon governor or state legislature starts to stare down the barrel of the gun held by an angry electorate?

2. Not too much here in Indiana, because...
our Governor is "My Man Mitch", but it's more accurate to say he's Bush's ... Well, nevermind. So far, he's forced us into a time change we didn't want and leased our toll road to a foreign company for 75 years!

3. Everything he can. He comes into office, guts the fuck out of the budget,

and now he wants to simply replace the money and claim that he has increased spending across the board.

Tuition rates are un-fucking-believable in the state of Maryland, too. I wanted to go straight to grad school, but with my current debt from school loans that is literally out of the question.

4. Nothing. Sonny Perdue's busy ruining Georgia & hobnobbing with Poppy Bush.
Since 2002 (the nation's first all Diebold selection), Sonny Perdue and the Republican controlled state assembly (both houses) have turned back the social, economic, education and environmental clock in Georgia. They are busy mollifying the Talibangelicals, big business polluters and developers who want to destroy our forests, streams and coastal regions solely for the purposes of greed and profit.

Our state used to be the most progressive in the South.

6. Funny you should ask. Did a double-take after seeing this Pataki headline:

By Danny Hakim
New York Gov. George E. Pataki said the tax cuts and
spending plans would lead to irresponsible future deficits.

11. Jeb? Nothing at all
He's a lame duck and is too busy trying to destroy as much of the state government as he can before his clock runs out.

16. Heineman
This may take a while, because right now, he's trying to look as Republican as possible. Anything to beat Tom Osborne.

- He signed into law a bill that segregates Omaha's school districts (ironically enough, it was proposed by liberal Senator Ernie Chambers).
- He vetoed a bill that allowed children of illegal immigrants to get instate tuition (this veto was overturned by the legislature).
- He promised to seek a bill similar to that passed in South Dakota if elected to a full term.

And yet, still, some of my Democratic friends think he's actually a good alternative in the general election. If he's in the general election, the Democrats may actually stand a chance. Not a very good one, but it's a chance.
