GOP Supervisor sends nude 'appreciation' email
Edited on Thu Apr-13-06 06:06 PM by BlueAwards
WARMINSTER, Pa. - The leaders of the Republican and Democratic committees in Warminster are calling for the resignation of GOP Supervisor Fred Gold, who sent an e-mail with a photo of a topless woman promoting Jan. 15 as "Breast Appreciation Day."

The e-mail that accompanied the photo asked, "Beats ... Martin Luther King Day, doesn't it?"

Democratic Chairman Joseph Bowes Jr. and Republican Chairman Jim Messina described the e-mail as insulting to women and blacks.

"It embarrassed the party. It embarrassed me," Messina said.

Bowes called it "offensive on many levels."

Gold sent the e-mail from his personal account, and apologized if anyone who received or saw it was offended.

"I certainly don't think I did anything immoral or unethical," he said. "To resign because of this, I don't think so."

3. Wow....these Repugs are just stupid...
they hate women (not a surprise) and they insult Martin Luther King too..

Yea he should resign...this is unbecoming of a political official....it's stuff like this...the little things that get ignored that lead to the bigger offenses....

4. I have differing feelings on this
1. I think it's hysterical that he's that stupid.
2. It is offensive to lots people.
3. He is right however, it's not unethical (or illegal).
4. I don't want moronic twits like that resigning. I want them out there to be poster children for the "family values, God-and-country pukie party." It just highlights what kind of party it really is.

11. What gets me is...
Not even that he made the stupid mistake of sending the email, but that he has the nerve to say it wasn't unethical...

"Beats ... Martin Luther King Day, doesn't it?"

How much more "unethical" can you get? I am a pretty understanding guy, but I can't imagine a context where that could be said without being racist.

21. About #4 - Kinda like how I want Cheney to remain VP.
I don't ever want America to forget what the real face of modern-day, radical RW republicans looks like.

Having said that, some minor-league kudos are due to Republican Chairman Jim Messina for at least recognizing a PR disaster when he sees it.

...like their political sensibility, rarely transcends adolescence.

10. Because women & blacks don't merit respect.
That's why he sees nothing wrong with it. He can't be a representative of the people if blacks and women are automatically excluded.

22. There's hardly any room on the list of horrifying things to add this
one thing.

It's kinda small potatoes next to the smearjob they did on John Kerry. And the assault on a soverign nation.

And a thousand other things we could name.
