Texas GAS Prices--and a FLASHBACK to 2000
Gas prices take 15-cent jump again in past week

The Lufkin Daily News

Friday, April 14, 2006

Another week, another 15-cent jump in gas prices.

That's been the case over the past seven days as fuel costs have once again bitten East Texas motorists in the hip pocket.

Lufkin's lowest-priced regular unleaded gasoline was found at Pal's Video Plus on West Frank Avenue at $2.68 a gallon. Nacogdoches had gas for a penny cheaper at $2.67 a gallon.

Both Lufkin and Nacogdoches were about middle of the pack in this week's random spot check of gas prices in 12 cities in the eastern one-third of Texas...

Do you suppose the Monkey's neighbors remember these priceless quotes from the Manchester NH 00 debate? It's worth reminding EVERYONE about it when they complain about the price at the pump:

Q: What pressures should be brought on OPEC nations to lift oil production?

(BUSH)A: It’s important for the president to explain in clear terms what high energy prices will not only do to our economy, but what high energy prices will do to the world economy. It is in the Saudis’ best interests for the price of oil to mellow out. It’s not only in our country’s best interest; It needs to be explained to them it’s in their best interests. And I will do so.

FLASHBACK: Bush Pledged to “Jawbone OPEC” in 2000. Talking about how to handle OPEC during a GOP primary debate in 2000, Bush said: "What I think the president ought to do is he ought to get on the phone with the OPEC cartel and say we expect you to open your spigots. One reason why the price is so high is because the price of crude oil has been driven up. OPEC has gotten its supply act together, and it's driving the price, like it did in the past. And the president of the United States must jawbone OPEC members to lower the price." http://www.dscc.org/news/roundup/20060202_oil/

The JAWBONING of an ASS, apparently!!!!!

1. Great plan, Dummy
So Georgieboy must have got on the phone to "OPEC" (presumably the receptionist) and said "open your spigots" (demonstrating thereby his expert knowledge of oil industry terminology). OPEC unexpectedly replied, "fuck off monkeyboy." So Shrubyah fell back on Plan B.

Except he didn't have one.

So he invaded Iraq instead.

2. he's gotcha covered, the saudis are pumping as fast as they can
it's shrub himself who is driving up the price through all this military madness, disrupting the iraqi oil flow, destabilizing the region, creating fear of an iranian disruption, etc.

yes, china and india have increased demand, but shrub is doing everything he can to keep oil prices high.

what do you suppose they talked about at that secret energy summit at the very start of his reign of terror?
