Not quite up there with Hillary raising $20 million for Hillary, but still pretty good. Still, I can't help but wonder what $20 million more would do for races in 06'. It certainly could make the difference in taking back the House and/or Senate.

"Rep. Rahm Emanuel, Chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), announced today that the DCCC has raised $12.4 million in the 1st quarter of 2005, a record amount for the first quarter of any year.

$12.4 million is more than the DCCC has ever raised in the first three months of any year, election or non-election. The figure is an unprecedented sum for this early stage in the election cycle, and reflects strong enthusiasm for Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats' priorities and Democratic agenda."

I wish all those Hillary supporters would put more money into 06' at this point, but of course it's their money. Why all the focus on Hillary?

1. If Hillary was smart, she'd be parting with a huge chunk of it to

support the 2006 elections, the goodwill and chits she'd earn would come in handy if she plans to run in 2008. Hell, if we don't take back Congress in 2008....what Democrat would want the Presidency in 2008?

2. I agree. I do wonder what her plans are for that large sum.

I'm also disappointed with all the $$$ going to one candidate (for senate or whatever).

It's a very poor use of the resources we need to win this year.

“I didn’t give her money for the Senate, I want her to run for the White House,” said $201 Clinton donor Martin Rogoff.
A Philadelphia-area businessman, Rogoff said he doubts other contributors think she needs money for a so far lopsided Senate contest. “I don’t believe anybody donating believes this is for the Senate. I think it’s time we had a woman in the White House,” he said.

I really wish these people would focus on 06'. This are Democratic $$$ that could be going for races THIS year, and they could make the difference!

3. It's Pocket Change Compared To What The Repubs Get FREE From the Media
The Repubs get more than $12 million worth of free advertising from the media every day.

4. nope

You can't challenge and win most swing districts for a million these days. Price tag for a hard fight is closer to three, really.

Then again, this year it probably won't matter as much. Print up a few thousand "Had Enough? Vote Democratic" and "They Have No Excuse. Vote Democratic" signs and half the work will be done.

But then, that's just what they've raised in three months. Got any figures on what the DSCC has been raising?

Here in NJ, Sen. Robert Menendez needs to raise $20 million just for his own campaign against the challenge by well-connected, heavily funded Republican who's the son of a former Governor and has instant name recognition: Thomas Kean, Jr.
