Be Careful What You Wish for...Let's all laugh at Berlusconi together
Berlusconi's election hopes fade: Prodi win looks certain as no irregularities emerge
ROME, Italy (Reuters) -- Italy's Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's attempt to keep power by contesting the result of last weekend's election appeared to have failed on Friday with no evidence emerging to back his claims of irregularities.
Italian media said there had turned out to be far fewer disputed ballots than originally reported and not enough to reverse the election result, which handed victory to center-left leader Romano Prodi by a margin of some 24,000 votes.

snip

Even some members of Berlusconi's inner circle were starting to admit defeat, saying the initial estimate of 43,000 disputed ballots -- papers on which the voting intention was deemed unclear by scrutinizers -- had been exaggerated.

Here it is let's all get ready to laugh together:
Although it won by a handful of votes, a recent change to the electoral law introduced by Berlusconi means Prodi will have almost 70 more seats than the center right in the 630-seat lower chamber. In the Senate, Prodi's center left has just a two-seat majority.

A RECENT CHANGE BY BERLUSCONI screwed him royally. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

2. Is there some sort of club
Are all of Smirk's unemployed pals around the world in some sort of therapy group? I don't like the way thins are shaping up world-wide. We'd better join the movement and link our ultra-RW government out of power before it's too late.

razor-thin victories are a Fearless Leader specialty. The trick is not getting on the wrong end of the razor.

5. This latest news is just fantastic.
Berlusconi is a corrupt, vain, pompous, dishonest, hypocritical and opportunsitc charlatan.

But all his failings pale in comparison to his Iraq "policy", for which he will be utterly damned by history.

The "policy" was entirely about Berlusconi playing the macho-man for domestic political purposes. That's all the Italian policy on Iraq amounted to.

It had absolutely nothing to do with any conviction or world-view or serious foreign policy position. It was all about Berlusconi, the polls, image and ego. Jesus, at least the American Neo-Cons actually believed in their insane project - this fucker was just playing a big game, with no end other than self-agrandisement. No other consoderations. None. It is just so fucking disgusting it is hard to bear.

War as vanity project. God damn this fucking wanker.

11. Nixon v Kennedy in Illinois

Contrary to what the conservatives claimed in 2000, Nixon DID call for a recount following his close loss to Kennedy in Illinois. But the longer the recount went, the farther behind Nixon fell til he finally decided to call it quits.
