GOP to run Cong. campaigns on flag burning, gay marriage, abortion
CNN/AP: GOP hones its core agenda
Flag burning, gay marriage, abortion top Republicans' Senate plan
Saturday, April 15, 2006

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist: "When America's values are under attack, we need to act."

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Protection of marriage amendment? Check. Anti-flag burning legislation? Check. New abortion limits? Check.

Between now and the November elections, Republicans are penciling in plans to take action on social issues important to religious conservatives, the foundation of the GOP base, as they defend their congressional majority.

In a year where an unpopular war in Iraq has helped drive President Bush's approval ratings below 40 percent, core conservatives whose turnout in November is vital to the party want assurances that they are not being taken for granted....

Former presidential candidate Gary Bauer agreed that the effort matters.

"If they get to these things this summer, which we expect that they will, that will go a long way toward energizing the values voters at the base of the Republican Party," said Bauer, head of Americans United to Preserve Marriage....

3. I'm not feeling all that
optimistic about the November elections, and for the following reason: Bush gave the idiot christian right just what they wanted--judges. He fucking delivered, and our spineless Dem's in the Senate let him. Yes he's way down in the polls but the christian fascist right will most likely galvanize and...well...sodomize this country once again.

10. flag burning, gay marriage, abortion
ask them while they are concerned about flag burning, gay marriage, abortion -

1. they are shirking their responsibility and won't hold the president accountable?

2. why they won't hold themselves accountable for dirty lobby money?

3. why they just rubberstamp legislation?

4. what are their proposals to address gas prices, iraq, national security, border and PORT security

5. aren't there more important issues to address - like the war on Terror and what do they propose to do about it other than rubberstamp bush*'s proposals

6. Where's the trickle down from bush*'s tax cuts?

7. Do they plan on rubberstamping an invasion into Iran?

8. (if this is an incumbent running) go here: http://www.opensecrets.org/
check out who gave them money - especially industries/corporations and ask them what special funding/taxcuts/legislation these companies want the candidate to pass
