Puke LTTE ... unbelievable ....
From Sunday's Roanoke Times.... http://www.roanoke.com/editorials/letters/wb/wb/xp-61152

President is too good a Christian to lie

There have been several letters to the editor in this newspaper calling President Bush a liar. I do not believe this.

Rather, I believe the president acted on false information.

I also believe he is too much of a Christian gentleman to deliberately lie to the American people.

When the president called a news conference recently to introduce his new chief of staff, Joshua Bolten, his outgoing chief of staff, Andy Card, spoke and quoted a verse from the Old Testament book of Ecclesiastes.

This led me to believe that Card is a Godly and upright man, who would not have stayed on the job for five years, as he did, if he thought the president was a liar.

I also believe that Bolten would not have agreed to be the new chief of staff if he thought the president were a liar.

.......end of LTTE...

Just do not know about some ppl......

18. Actually, Hillary was recently criticized quite roundly by the
right for daring to even mention scripture when she talked against the immigration bill.

"It is certainly not in keeping with my understanding of the Scriptures, because this bill would literally criminalize the Good Samaritan and probably even Jesus himself."

She didn't even quote the scripture, just alluded to it and it drove them nuts.

11. Actually, these are the people you can still reach
If you can show them that Bush is just using the Bible to manipulate them, they will turn on him.

6. From an earlier comment I made re * and sheeple refusing to believe
that he would lie to them. Like he cares so much and he respects them so much, he would never do anything that rotten to them.

Lying works with a willing partner. You need the recipient of the lie to have a naive suspension of disbelief where both the lie is accepted wholesale and the liar is someone whom the recipient would never accept as someone who would lie to them. The act of lying is an abuse of faith and trust. It's such a horrible prospect of destroying the image of someone revered that the recipient of the lie will not even consider the prospect of its existence.

What a nut.

You know, I was watching the case of a murdering con man on CourtTv last week who gathered a, "flock" around him, took their monies, controlled them, and eventually had them kill a family who also joined the cult.

And I remember that this man explained that it is easy to fool certain types of people ; just memorize a few biblical quotations and dazzle 'em.

They will do and/or believe anything you want.

God help us all.

PS- Is there a line in the bible that says something like 'even the Devil can quote scripture'?

20. There is a SCENE in the Bible in which the Devil quotes Scripture!
Edited on Sun Apr-16-06 08:38 AM by BerryBush
From the Temptation of Jesus...

When the devil took Him into the holy city; and he had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, "If you are the Son of God throw yourself down. For it is written, 'He will give His angels charge concerning you,' and, 'On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone."- Matthew 4:5-6

Here, Satan is quoting Psalm 91:11-12. He is quoting it IN ISOLATION, the way so many people quote the Bible in order to prove their own personal point (tells you something, doesn't it?). He is trying to tempt Jesus to throw himself down from the temple to prove that God's angels will save him.

Jesus' reply? Deuteronomy 6:16.

Jesus said to him, "On the other hand it is written, 'You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.'"- Matthew 4, Verse 7

Here, Satan is not really trying to get Jesus to prove any Scriptural truth. He's essentially just "double-dog-daring" Jesus--challenging him to do something stupid so God can prove that Jesus is his son by saving him from the consequences of his stupid behavior.

Jesus is saying "Nonsense. God doesn't have to prove anything. And God's people are not supposed to let other people talk them into doing stupid things just so God can save them."

In other words, he's saying anybody can quote Scripture. The real issue is, why are you quoting Scripture? To enlighten other people? To spread truth? Or to push your own agenda and accomplish your own ends? You know, like convincing others that you are godly and would never lie, cheat or steal, while you lie, cheat and steal?

Some people, sadly, cannot tell the difference.

8. 999 tests make make one seem right. But one test can prove you wrong.
I sometimes quote Bible verses, but I am not a Christian. So I couldn't possibly be a "Christian" gentleman.

the lack of discernment in our community. Sometimes I read threads on DU that mock Christianity and I get upset. However, I can hardly blame people for mocking us as we've brought it on ourselves. For the record this particular Christian LTTE writer is a complete fool and doesn't speak for me.

14. I hear people defend Bush on his Christianity and I just fell like
shaking them. Other than declare that he is a born-agian Christian, what has Bush done to live up to that claim? Anyone can mouth the words and go through the motions, but that does not make him a Christian. Bush wraps himself in the cloak of Christianity to attract supporters, but I don't believe it is something that has ever reached his heart.

22. Bush is as much a Christian as I am a Scientologist
What's weird is, I have no idea what these kooks base his Christianity on. I've never heard him actually quote Scripture, and I doubt very much that he could even hold a Bible verse much more complicated than "Jesus wept" (John 11:35) in his pinhead.

He's never actually DONE anything Christian that I've ever seen. He's killed thousands, if not tens of thousands, of innocent women and children (in bad ways) and mocked and laughed at the death of at least one prisoner who really did convert to Christianity. He's enthusiastically endorsed torturing people.

So where do these chuckleheads actually get this weird idea that he's a Christian? Because he said so? If I went around telling these same idiots that they owe me $1,000, will they give it to me?

25. This reminds me of the guy I used to work for...
All over his place of business there were religious (Christian) pictures, and leaflets with bible passages. On his weekly ad, there was a reference to Jesus.

This man is a used car broker/auto auction owner. Now, that in itself doesn't make him a bad person. But, I know for a fact that he has lied to and cheated many people on his way to becoming a multi-millionaire.

The family across the street operate a remodeling/home deco business. They have "A Christian Owned Business" plastered all over their vans and trucks.

I do not trust anyone who uses their interpretation of the bible or their religion for personal gain. Dubya fits right into that category.
