U of Virginia Has Students Arrested, Pays Poverty Wages

17 UVa students staging a peaceful sit-in inside Madison Hall since April 12 for a living wage for all University employees, were arrested last night (Saturday) and taken to jail. Their bond hearing will be tomorrow morning (Monday).

2. Take NO disciplinary actions against them from the administration.

We have received word requesting a LARGE TURNOUT at the court to show community support for the students and their cause (a living wage for all University employees).

The Albemarle County General District Court is located at 501 E. Jefferson St. in Charlottesville. Park on the street or in the Market St. parking garage. The number for the Clerk's office is 972-4007. The court opens at 8:30 am.

There are Living Wage Campaign folks camped on the lawn at Madison Hall staying the course in support of the students and a living wage for all University employees. Jefferson may have had slaves, but slavery is illegal now and not paying a living wage is tantamount to slavery!

3. I was p'od yesterday to read that no FOOD was allowed

to be given to the students protesting. They were running out of what they had with them.

I will try to be there in the morning.
