We're not running against Ceaser Disgustus in 06
I know we all look to the polls showing Ceaser Disgustus' numbers in the toilet and feel good about it. I know I sure as hell do.

But the fact is, he ain't runnin' and we ain't runnin' against him.

We're running against 435 congresspersons. And some assorted Senators. And various and sundry (thousands of) local races.

In none of those races is the name "Bush" at the top of the ballot.

Those polls are tangential, at best. Mind candy. Music to which we can 'happy dance'. But in no way is it a reason to see our chances in 06 being better than they really are.

Who do you think that fundynutter neighbor of yours is gonna vote for? The Dem? Dream on, friend.

Allegience to Bush is not needed this go-round. Yasee, here's the deal. The Democrats are gunna let fags kiss each other in public. They're gunna burn flags. They're gunna let all those short brown guys from Mexico take your jobs and rape your women, all the whle raising your taxes. Democrats are gunna force women to have abortions and take away that Ruger you got holstered on your hip. Hell, they may even try to ban Nascar. Wouldn't put it past 'em, yanno. Democrats are the devil in a power suit. Vote for Democrats and you'll go to hell. Vote for Democrats and you'll see two women marrying and walking down Main Street flaunting it. What's more, they'll try to play kiss-kiss with the sand fleas in the middle east and we'll just get attacked again.

And if that wasn't hateful enough a paragraph for you, just wait. That was mild.

These people are NOT going quietly into any night in your lifetime or mine.

You better be ready to fight with any weapon you can muster. Don't know some dirt about your opponent? Make it the hell up. Follow the LBJ doctrine, cuz it works.

"Make the bastard deny it."

Put them on the defensive by mounting a strong, artfully filthy offense.

While we'll never get the Talibornagain vote, we can damned sure get the moderate vote. Damned sure we can do it. All we gotta do is want it more than the other guy does.

Do YOU want it that much?

I know I sure as hell do.

This isn't politics anymore.

Its war.

1. We should fight on all fronts, but w will be a factor, a big one, if we
make it so, and we should.

We, Dems, should force each repuke candidate to either embrace bush and his ideas, or reject him and them. How? We tie bush to every repuke running, by labeling them "bush republicans."

We make bush the issue, and tie him to them and them to him.

We don't let them run/walk/slither away.

This will nationalize local elections.

You know how repukes call whatever Dem they're after "Kennedy Liberal" or something like that? Linking the local candidate to the national figure they're maligning? We should do that, with bush and every damned repuke that's on the ballot, nationwide?

"Mr. RightWing Jerk, some have called you a "bush republican," how do you respond?"

tying them to him should be a big focus, imho

10. and....
repukes are trying to distance themselves from mr. 30-something % approval because...?

because they fear being tied to him....because?

because America, for the most part, doesn't agree with him, doesn't like him, is tired of him - fed the hell up with him...

we should make it impossible for the snakes to slither away now - they seem to fear being tied to him, which is evidence to me, and reason enough, that we should see to it they are tied to him, and him to them

republican = bush

what an opportunity...

4. I like it all except the last two sentences
I'm so sick of calling everything a war these days. War this, war that. It seems to diminish the real meaning after a while. But yeah, I'm with ya!

5. Arfully fithy offense??
You've done a magnificent job writing up their assault, it's exactly right too. They vote against the Liberal Label, no question.

Why is it we know exactly why they vote against us, and can write it up, but can't do the same for ourselves.

Why don't you write up that one paragraph artfully filthy offense. The one that those moderate Republicans will run away from just as fast as they have traditionally run from the Liberal Label.

6. Yes the Repugs have successfully demonized the Dems.
The Dems have been totally vilified by the Repugs.
Character assassination is a very hard thing to recover from.
And the Repugs have very successfully appealed to the people's basest fears and greed.

And the Repugs have ensured that any Dem who speaks out is ignored, via swiftboating and media control.

The Repugs have done a brilliant job. They have a totally inept, incompetent, corrupt leader who may indeed blow up the planet. And yet most folks hate Dems so much they will continue to vote Repug.

Amazing.

11. Gosh, I love that term, "Caesar Disgustus".
Where did that term come from? I see it on bumper stickers. This is good.

12. Look again, please .....
This post was not to suggest that that Ceaser Disgustus was a non-factor. It **was** to suggest that we have hundreds and hundreds of **individual** races to be run this season. In any given race, boosh may or may not be factor. The Dem party and the people not running this go-round can and should work the meme (and fact) that **all** repubs are tied to Disgustus. But to take great cheer from his polls and to think this will propel us to victory in November would be a huge miscalcualtion. We have to get each and every voter in each and every district to see **their** republican candidate as the worst choice they could ever make in their lives. While that could include ties to boosh, our job is to make those voters **want** to vote for our team by making them **not want** to vote for the other guy. We'll, of course, never reach that goal, but as a goal, it is a good one.

All of this is going to take work on our part. And in some cases, a whooooole lot of work. For us. Me and you.

And further, if there's a need to go negative, I am very much in favor of that.
