Bush has illegal music on his iPod
This has probably been posted elsewhere, but apparently Bush told people that he has Beatles music on his iPod. Unfortunately, there is no way to legally download Beatles music at the moment, so Bush must have ripped the music from a CD. The problem with ripping music from a CD to an MP3 player is that it's illegal, as viewed by the RIAA.

1. I did not pirate music from that band... The Beatles...

It depends on what your definition of "is" is.

Ever think that maybe Bush meant to say he has music from The Rolling Stones, and just can't tell the difference?

Bush loves that Bug Music!

3. You can legally convert vinyl to CD, and download onto an iPod
Edited on Mon Apr-17-06 09:23 AM by leveymg
Provided that you don't resell or trade the music, you can legally convert formats. That would included CD to MP3.

Besides, Bush only listens to 2 CDs: Yanni Sings and The Muppets Make Happy Tunes.

4. You can rip music from a CD to your iPod for personal use
If he got them off of Kazaa then that would be illegal, but the RIAA does not contest people copying music from their own CD's. You only get in trouble if you copy and sell music, or make it availible to a mass audience.

5. I don't think this is correct.
I am not a lawyer, but I read the RIAA position differently. They did not say that copying CDs for personal use is illegal. Rather, they said that copying CDs is not always legal. There is a difference. A big difference.

Here is what the RIAA website says:

"If you choose to take your own CDs and make copies for yourself on your computer or portable music player, that's great. It's your music and we want you to enjoy it at home, at work, in the car and on the jogging trail."

So, as long as Bush copied the Beatles tunes from his own CDs, he's probably fine.

15. So what are his favorite Beatles songs?
Edited on Mon Apr-17-06 10:43 AM by lwcon
Can't you picture him sobbing in his near-beer, listening to "Fool on the Hill"?

Of course "I'm Loser" would be a better fit.

Other suggestions?

If he purchased the CD and hasn't sold or given the MP3s he made to anyone else, then it's no different from when you used to make cassette recordings of songs off the radio.
