7. Nothing unless we start paying attention to Republican election fraud.
Gore won in 2000. Kerry won in 2004. There is absolutely no doubt of this. Read Fooled Again by Mark Crispin Miller.

We have to learn about, and fight, all kinds of anti-Democratic election tricks from conservative zealots or we will lose again this November, and in the next presidential election.

11. Clark/Jim Wallis, author of God's Politics
trust me. ...and lest we forget that our back is against the wall and there's lots of crazy religious types out there who get to vote...and they're more organized than we are. Wallis totally is about poverty and the environment and anti-Bush.

Kaptor myself but maybe Clarke would be ok.

Also could be referred to as the "Brass Balls" ticket.

(Uh, Bill Clinton once described Wes Clark that way)

28. Clark/Gore instead
i'm going to offend a number of people here, but this is realpolitik:

america wants a military man in charge at this crisis point in our descent from empire. our mass psychology has been molded by our nationalist mythology to want this, hence the electoral "success" of fake hard asses reagan, bush jr., and ahnold. bush sr., a REAL hard ass, was percieved as a wimp due to his patrician manner, as was kerry.

gore, god bless him, is a wonk. in mccain vs. gore, the rubes are going to pick the military man. clark makes a better front man; handsome, trim, confident, unimpeachable credentials, & not so concerned with correcting global warming that he'll make us get out of our preciousssss cars. he'll tip more female voters who voted for * based on fear, because they think he's "magnetic" (read: HOT), like clinton was.

gore behind the scenes, running the show like the unlikeable cheney, is fine with me.

29. Brilliant, Clark/Gore
but don't forget Clark would have support from both the House and Senate for both his foreign and domestic policies. Frankly, I'd save Gore for Homeland Security. He could turn the thing into a really smart and competent agency with innovative ideas, including civil rights and environmental protections. I'd do a different VP.

30. Clark is every bit as concerned about Global Warming
As Gore is. And that is NO slight to Gore. Both men are remarkable.

When Clark opened his 2004 campaign, the first document posted to his campaign webiste was his 100 Year Vision (you can still find it at http://securingamerica.com/vision ). In it, he states that there are two things which will determine whether our nation will still exist in a recognizable form 100 years from now. One is the Constitution and our civil liberties, and the other is the environment. He has sound and comprehensive plans and policies for battling climate change. It's no accident Clark was endorsed by former Senator Gaylord Nelson, father of Earth Day.

Even now, Clark is working on climate change issues. He believes that global warming is a major threat to our national security. He serves on the Climate Change Advisory Board for the Clinton Global Initiative. He sits on the boards of companies that work to develop technological solutions to environmental problems. He was one of the first to sign up for Laurie David's Virtual March to Stop Global Warming. He has a (relatively) new podcast program, and the second series in the program (with two podcasts released to date) is on "Leadership and Global Warming." If you haven't heard it, you ought to. The audio files can be downloaded from iTunes (free) or directly (also free) from http://securingamerica.com/clarkcasts . Look for ClarkCasts #5 and 6.

I'll grant you one point, tho. While I think Clark and Gore are pretty close on their positions as far as alternative fuel sources and independence on oil, American voters are unfortunately more likely to perceive Gore as wanting to "make us get out of our preciousssss cars" even tho it's really not true. I don't think it would occur to most voters that Clark would pose such a threat to their comfort.

As for me, I wouldn't be one bit opposed to a Clark/Gore nomination. Well, maybe one little bit in that I'd like to see a woman and/or minority on the ticket. But Gore is a good man and would otherwise be a good fit with Clark.

But never ever think that Gore would be to Clark what Cheney is to Bush. Clark is a REAL leader. He listens to and greatly values the advice of competent men and women, and no doubt would rely heavily on a VP Gore to manage the Congression interface. He knows how to delegate. But at the end of the day, only Clark would "run the show."

Sadly, I doubt that Al Gore would settle for the VP spot again. Can't say as I'd blame him. He's BTDT.
