Response to the "freeper" strategy of "demonizing" Democrats...
Edited on Tue Apr-18-06 11:25 AM by kentuck
In another thread, someone had posted a freeper quote of how they could win the next election - simply demonize the Democrats. Well, let them go ahead!

Their Party has broke our nation. They have spent us into oblivion. They have taken from the poor and given to the rich. They have lied us into wars and innocent Americans have died by the thosuands. They have threatened the safety net of all Americans. There is corruption to the core. The Republicans compete with each other to see who can steal the most tax dollars from the people. They have weakened our military and disgraced us in the eyes of the world. Their incompetence has known no equal. Yes, by all means, vote for more of this medicine.

1. "Only a fool would ever think of voting Republican again."
There's no shortage of fools out there. And, wisdom can be a fleeting, temporary thing. I think you are being a bit overly optimistic.

We need to attack them for their efforts to demonize every American who isn't them. We need to make that an issue. But we cannot be complacent about their attacks against us.

2. if you call them fools, they'll vote against you out of spite
you have to make the fools feel like they're so so smart, driving their yukons 500 miles to a nascar race.

hence the essential problem of politics. you have to get dumb asses to turn out.

3. the party of irresponsibility.
they have had complete control of all three branches of government and a highly sympathetic media. they can't plausibly blame democrats for any of it. but they do, because name-calling and slimeball attacks are all they're good at.

they sure as hell ain't good at governing.

even wall street hates this guy. huge public debt, trade deficit, rising interest rates, inverted yield curve, none of this is good for wall street. the only reason they're making money is because the falling dollar is making emerging markets look fantastic. europe, india, latin ameria, mexico, and so on are all doing quite well, and wall street is raking it in as a result.

it's not a good sign for this country when wall street makes its money by directing investment money out of this country.

4. We do not roll over and play dead for the FReepers
They must be humiliated in the town square. Make a public spectacle of them. That's the only way to do it.

We tried to play nice in 2004. Didn't work. We need to campaign in 2006 like we mean it.
