DefCon's Abramoff ad has 'buzz' potential
As the taint of the Jack Abramoff influence-peddling scandal continues to spread toward members of Congress and their staffs, a left-leaning group has launched an ad targeting three individuals who have been linked with the former superlobbyist.
In the ad, a project of the Tides Center and paid for by the Campaign to Defend the Constitution (DefCon), traditional organ music plays softly in the background as a silver collection plate full of money is passed from hand to hand in a church.

WASHINGTON -- Rep. John Doolittle has hired a former aide to special prosecutor Kenneth Starr to advise him on how to answer media questions about his ties to disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
"Given the amount of media attention that has surrounded this issue, it is understandable that the congressman wants to be as prudent as possible when making public statements as to ensure their accuracy and not compromise the ongoing investigation," said Doolittle's chief of staff, Richard Robinson.
A report filed by Doolittle's re-election campaign over the weekend revealed that the campaign paid $10,000 on Jan. 27 to retain the services of the Virginia law firm of Williams Mullen.
