AS HANOI JANE SIDES WITH 5 GENERALS, SHE SNICKERS AND TAKES A SHOT!
Edited on Tue Apr-18-06 11:40 PM by Jeffersons Ghost
YOU GO JANE! On Larry King Live Jane Fonda said she follows the war closely and sees why the Generals are resigning with critical remarks about top leadership. She approaches the war from a spiritual perspective although she was raised an atheist. She seeks to heal not hurt our troops. She said she would be more vocal against war, except she realizes any public announcements would fuel "war monger" efforts.

who can name each anti-war activist?

10. You said who can name each anti war activist.
So I figured you meant each one was supposed to be.

Didn't know it was multiple choice.

Any reason you're calling her Hanoi Jane, btw?

And I don't know what she was raised as, perhaps atheist as you say, but she's a born again Christian now.

20. I'm at work. It wasn't your graphic that made me think you opposed her
It was calling her what the freeper call her that made me think you opposed her.

Hanoi Jane is not a complimentary nickname. She has disavowed her actions in North Vietnam.

(and I probably also get bad vibes from that name because they called Kerry "Hanoi Kerry" as well, though he was never pro-Communist.)

76. Hanoi Jane - God Bless Her
Cheep shot!

Jane did more than most to end a senseless war and she deserves better.

Lest we forget we have thousands of our military, far away from their families and loved ones, at the 38th parallel in Korea for the past 50 years. Now north Korea has a three million man army and atomic capabilities.

I ask you where are our outspoken commanders head up their ... .

Don't you believe it's time to bring them home. With the cars South Korea is selling in America they can afford to patrol that area. Time to speak out and get them out.

Who will be the next war activist that take up that fight? I wonder how he/she will be remembered?

41. damn you're good... look what i did with the song...
Yeah, come on all of you, big strong men,
Uncle Sam needs your help again.
He's got himself in a terrible jam
Way out yonder in Iran
So put down your books and pick up a gun,
We're gonna have a whole lotta fun.
And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Reminds me of Vietnam;
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.
Well, come on generals, let's move fast;
Your big chance has come at last.
Gotta go get those towel-heads —
The only good Muslim is one who's dead
And you know that peace can only be won
When we've blown 'um all to kingdom come.
And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is in Iran;
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.
Huh!
Well, come on Wall Street, don't move slow,
Why man, this is war au-go-go.
There's plenty good money to be made
By supplying the Army with the tools of the trade,
Just hope and pray if they drop some nukes,
They don’t drop it on our own troops.
And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Reminds me of Vietnam.
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.
Well, come on mothers, now don’t be sad
Pack your boys off to Baghdad.
Come on fathers, don't hesitate,
Send 'em off before it's too late.
Be the first one on your block
To have your boy come home in a box.
And it's one, two, three
What are we fighting for?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is in Iran.
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Back then, instead of "RED-ALERT" terrorism, it was a "DUCK AND COVER" full-scale ongoing red-scare. Jerry said, "Why not let the commies take over this city? see what they can do with 20 square miles of fast-food and filling stations. I read his book after I saw him in-person but I didn't "steal" it.

45. What other kidnapees?
What makes you think some rich girl would just up and seek out such a ragtag bunch.

I don't think she'd have even known who they were and what they did unless they kidnapped her.

How would she have met them? Do you think she met them at the spa and thought they were nifty?

And when everything started to go wrong and it was clear that the police considered her not a victim but a criminal, don't you think that "Paris" would have then decided "Oops, this isn't fun anymore. I'll just be leaving." Bit far to go for a dabble, don't you think.

No, I wasn't there. But neither were you. And your take on the situation doesn't make logical sense.

Your would seem to be prejudging her based on the fact that she was rich and named Hearst. I'll go with her autobio, I think.

64. I'm still don't get how you reckon her parents got her out of trouble
Seeing as she went to prison for 21 months and all.

Why are you reacting so badly to someone disagreeing with you. You asked me if I was there. But you weren't there either. You seem to have somewhat of your own slant on Patty Hearst, reasons unknown. So she was rich and probably quite spoiled. Why does that have to mean that she wasn't also kidnapped? No, her case isn't akin to slavery. But I don't understand why you appear to be leaning so far to the other side in assuming she was a rich kid dabbling in the counterculture who invented it all. The facts don't seem to bear that out. You're speculating unless you can cough up an account or a story or something.

God knows there's enough room for speculation according to the accounts I've read. Why so hostile?

The Crime Library has an interesting account, actually. And while they are not necessarily sympathetic toward Ms. Hearst, at least they are able to give a fairly balanced and UNBIASED account of her story.

66. You know what?
I never intimated that her plight was akin to Slavery.... It was a metaphor, made in Sarcasm in response to someone else... Being the great great granddaughter of ex slaves is'ts nothihng I take lightly and I do not appreciate you making the witless leap from point A to point Z. Try critical thining once and a while...

59. Well, of course my dear.. Everyone who was ANYONE back then
went to jail. Oh those chic little prison outfits were just DARLING!

:sarcasm:

Actually, I'd forgotten that little fact. Thanks. I think our friend here drew a conclusion re: Ms. Hearst, and the facts just didn't make a dent in it.

62. I was also thinking she married
her jailer after she got out, but that would be too weird, wouldn't it?

I guess I was someone cause I got to go to jail, but no little chic suits for me, I wasn't there long enough to be fitted.:hippie:

15. Ummm..actually these people represent the status quo now.
They use them to sell retirement funds and Snapple on TV. It is soooo hip to have been a hippie way back when.

So, Hanoi Jane, if you want to protest the war in Iraq, so right ahead. I do not think that you will change any minds. The people who care about what you did in a negative way are perfectly capable of making up their own minds, and there are more people who care about what you did in a positive way that you seem to realize.

57. Hey man... dig this mesage:

(Monster)
Once the religious, the hunted and weary
Chasing the promise of freedom and hope
Came to this country to build a new vision
Far from the reaches of kingdom and pope
Like good Christians, some would burn the witches
Later some got slaves to gather riches

But still from near and far to seek America
They came by thousands to court the wild
And she just patiently smiled and bore a child
To be their spirit and guiding light

And once the ties with the crown had been broken
Westward in saddle and wagon it went
And 'til the railroad linked ocean to ocean
Many the lives which had come to an end
While we bullied, stole and bought our a homeland
We began the slaughter of the red man

But still from near and far to seek America
They came by thousands to court the wild
And she just patiently smiled and bore a child
To be their spirit and guiding light

The blue and grey they stomped it
They kicked it just like a dog
And when the war over
They stuffed it just like a hog

And though the past has it's share of injustice
Kind was the spirit in many a way
But it's protectors and friends have been sleeping
Now it's a monster and will not obey

(Suicide)
The spirit was freedom and justice
And it's keepers seem generous and kind
It's leaders were supposed to serve the country
But now they won't pay it no mind
'Cause the people grew fat and got lazy
And now their vote is a meaningless joke
They babble about law and order
But it's all just an echo of what they've been told
Yeah, there's a monster on the loose
It's got our heads into a noose
And it just sits there watchin'

Our cities have turned into jungles
And corruption is stranglin' the land
The police force is watching the people
And the people just can't understand
We don't know how to mind our own business
'Cause the whole worlds got to be just like us
Now we are fighting a war over there
No matter who's the winner
We can't pay the cost
'Cause there's a monster on the loose
It's got our heads into a noose
And it just sits there watching

(America)
America where are you now?
Don't you care about your sons and daughters?
Don't you know we need you now
We can't fight alone against the monster
