An appropriate windfall profit tax?
With the head of Exxon getting 400 million as a retirement package (let's see, ... how much per year of anticipated retirement is that?) Sen Dorgan has been once again led to call for a windfall profit tax, with the windfall going to consumers. And that's okay. But .....

....... how about this ..........?

Same general idea, but with the windfall going to alternative energy research by companies NOT associated with the oil companies? Like ... maybe ... someone who has OUR interests at heart.

1. Nationalization would be better. But, it won't happen any time soon.

2. I think that is an appropriate question to ask at this time...
I wish some Democrat would address that issue - a Democrat in the House or Senate...:)

3. Taxing profits is entirely appropriate. The more, the better. nt

4. I think...
.... profits should be evaluated with officer compensation at 2002 levels. Then profits in excess of 25% of the previous year's profit would be taxed at 100%. All proceeds from these taxes would go to fund alternative energy research/manufacture.

Nothing's going to happen. Not even if Dems get in power. The corporatization of America is complete.
