It was just announced yesterday that Karl Rove will cut back his duties at the White House to political duties only, mainly overseeing the mid-term elections coming up. (One wonders how his job will change at all, as every policy decision in the Bush White House has been driven by neocon politics). However, he will still keep his position as advisor to the president, and apparently he will keep his security clearance.
The question arises, that if Rove is solely involved in politics, why does he still need a security clearance? Isn't this only inviting Rove to use sensitive government information against political enemies? Isn't this a red flag showing Rove's modus operandi? If the White House wants us to take it seriously regarding its "shake-up" of personnel, it should now remove Rove's security Clearance.
