Glenn Beck was crying on the Michael Smerconish show this
morning when he was talking seeing Flight 93 (the new movie). It was very strange and disturbing.

1. I do not plan to see the film.
For me, it's TOO SOON. Others' mileage may, of course, vary.

Where are the profits for this opus going, I wonder?

are going to the Shanksville Memorial.

5. Hmmm, how will they define profit?
Will they make their investment back in the opening weekend? A lot of films don't start going from red ink to black until they go to premium channels, overseas releases, and DVD.

I am probably coming across as cynical; but I never like the idea of people making a buck off the dead, especially when it happens close to the event. It just seems a bit cold to me.

13. Here's a good example of how Hollywood accounting works (The Matrix)
http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2003/11/16/1068917668460.html?from=storyrhs

"A few months after filming of the science fiction movie Matrix began in Sydney in 1998, and long before it became a surprise hit at the box office, a small group of investors decided to take a punt on the film."

this is the FIRST Matrix film...

"the idea behind the investment was to fund the marketing of the film. The prospectus offered a minimum guaranteed return, a share of any net profits from the distribution and marketing of the film and the possibility of tax advantages."

note: "net profits"

"The investors will still get their original capital back, plus 1 per cent."

This is for THE MATRIX....

Haven't heard much about it recently.

7. Is it a coincidence that they are releasing this film on an election year?
Trying to get people to think that Iraq was behind 9-11 and that Bush is our Saviour?

where the hijacker calls Saddam with Osama in the office saying the deed is done(with the Sadman and Sam Bin Laden laughing diabolicallly MUWAHAHAHA}( ) Besides I heard that one of the Arab actors on the movie got denied entry to the US.

27. I wouldn't judge the movie without seeing it.
The filmmaker, Paul Greengrass, made a docudrama called Bloody Sunday about the civil rights march held in Derry, Northern Ireland, on January 30, 1972. On that day, 14 unarmed people were shot by British paratroopers, and the investigation of the incident has continued over the decades.

Greengrass depicted the events of that day in a way that appeared to match journalists' accounts of the matter (at least as I read them in the book Those Are Real Bullets), including the gunning down of Barney McGuigan as he went to assist a wounded man.

In short, Greengrass's depiction of the events of Bloody Sunday was stark, unadorned, and unembellished.

I doubt Greengrass would attempt to give the story of Flight 93 the Hollywoodized treatment. I haven't made up my mind about whether to see it, but if I did, I would fully expect the film to be harrowing.

Here's something on recent documentaries, documdramas, and related films on Michael Moore's website:

29. I will be seeing it
and I will form an opinion of it. Isn't this the same thing we ripped on the right wingers for. Criticizing Farenheit 9/11 without even seeing it. A bit hypocritical don't you think?

9. Michael Smerconish was crying on Tweet's show yesterday
but it was because Chris Matthews HARANGUED him about Bush's crimes for five minutes and there was nothing Smerc could do except admit he was right.

GOOD to see.

Won't see the 9/11 movie tho. It's sheer election year exploitation. Also, since the movie was made the tapes of Flt 93 cockpit have finally been heard and facts are wrong.

The only shred of credibility BushCo gang has is the phony patriotism they hawk up out of their gullets when 9/11 is mentioned. Screw you, your little tin god DID 9/11. Wake up, idiot and can the crocodile tears. He was really crying about how the whole party he whores for is circling the drain.

19. I don't mind Smerconish too much
his show (Philly Region) is entertaining and not limited to politics. He is wrong alot but is respectful. He is not a Kool Aid drinker. He makes fun of Republican talking points often and backs Murtha's Iraq exit strategy. He is wrong on a lot of issues, however.

10. We know our role. Keep studying and sharing. Push the
documentaries. Turn people on to FSTV and LINK and AAR where possible. Memorize some websites. Tell them about the other families.

PS - does anyone have photos of the (so-named) hijackers who claim they are still alive?

body lay on the hospital table? Or are you speaking of the bullet that travelled at mathematical angles?

I'm with you.

20. I think A&E already had a Flight 93 movie. Not sure it was A&E..but
it was a good movie and it felt like the right type of media to show the film. I don't really care to see another movie on the subject just because it's on the big screen. No disrespect meant to anyone on the flight or their families. Someday, hopefully, they will make a very good film on the months leading up to 9/11 and a bit more about the nightmare that came after.

24. They've got iraqi actors playing the terrorists.
I, myself, won't be seeing this movie. On a commercial they've got some sort of control room with the lights dimmmed, oversized moniters, mood lighting and the whole thing jazzed up like it's CSI: Miami.

They're trying to make it look cool to make more money.

No thanks.
