Bush wants Congress to approve another $106.5 billion.

WASHINGTON (AFP) - US President George W. Bush, whose relationship with Congress is increasingly strained, urged lawmakers to approve dozens of billions of dollars to fund military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In his weekly radio address, Bush called on members of Congress "to continue their support of our troops fighting in the global war on terror."

The president is asking the Senate to pass a 106.5-billion-dollar bill that contains 72.4 billion for Iraq and Afghanistan.

The upper chamber was expected to take up the measure next week.

I know that people will be nagging about that being a century ago, however we can build a lot of Brooklyn Bridges. Sadly google changed the picture, but when they were starting out with their google maps you could see the reflection of that bridge in the water.

It's time for Congress to "just say no". The people of the United States are suffering because of his bone-headed decision to invade Iraq. If he wants to fund his stupid war have the oil companies and his corporate benefactors supply the fucking money. They're the only ones benefiting from it. Have Halliburton, KBR, Exxon-Mobil, Blackwater and the rest of the war profiteers pony up the money.

It would be great if our "elected officials" chose this as the moment to put their foot down. If what we end up with is a majority vote to give him the money and a few worthless and rambling Joe Biden speeches about how we seem to be doing an intricate Kabuki dance, what's that mean? The time has come for these people to STOP "making their views known" and START acting on principle.

YES, our soldiers "should be well-equipped to fight the war." But when does it end? Are we really going to let Junior coast along until 2009 and then dump the problem on the doorstep of the next president?
