You've gotta be kidding me. Bush spins AGAIN!
In the wake of Kerry's barn-burner speech today, Bush makes a ridiculous attempt at claiming Iraq's just great!

SO. TRANSPARENT.

3. Agreed.
My God, what timing. Kerry points out the failure of Bush's leadership, and his horrific Iraq policy, and now SUDDENLY, Iraq has a great, stable government, and things are peachy over there.

Jesus.

6. If shit were sugar, Bush would be a whole pie.
It's not just that he's absolutely wrong all the time, it's that unbelievably annoying whine in his voice.

I lunge for the radio dial whenever the little monster starts yapping, no matter the topic.

Hunter S. Thompson, reviewing the televised debates between John Kerry and Dubya, wrote that "Kerry steamrolled Bush" in those debates.

Yes indeed. On points and on style both.

Thanks as always for a good post, Vektor.

8. I heard 5 more soldiers died today.
The point is that Bush is ridiculous. Cheney is the most hated man on the planet next to Rove of course. So it's time my friends to get out the vote for our local democratic candidates and make them EAT their words!

13. Nice pictures! I think....
it is so cool the way you photoshopped the pictures of that chimp in with the helicopter and the mission accomplished sign. I'm just wondering though: Is this just a "feel good" ad campaign to spread hope among other chimps that ''yes, there is hope for our kind in the future"???

12. Bush's little speech would have been fine if he could of given it
Edited on Sat Apr-22-06 08:49 PM by wisteria
in December, right after the Iraq's voted. Instead, hearing it today after many months of increased killings and fighting it just comes off as the ramblings of a relieved man grateful for a reprieve from his troubles.

I hope the Iraq's make it, but it is up to them, not us at this point. I want Pres. Bush to explain why it is still necessary for us to remain a major force there.

15. I just think it's quite telling...
That as soon as Kerry is done calling the chimp out on the carpet for his stupidity, Bush "coincidentally" makes this phony-ass speech.

Another attempt at Repuke spin, failed.

Dumbya is something Kerry (or any other true patriotic american) would wipe off the bottom of their shoe before they stepped into a pig sty, so they wouldn't contaminate they sty.

Just my opinion, but hey.. who am I??

20. It's always a "new chapter" in Iraq
Do you know how many times I have gotten my hopes up that things were going to get better in Iraq?

1. Saddam Hussein caught in December 2003
2. Transition of power from CPA to provisional government in June 2004
3. Re-taking of Fallujah in November 2004 (that almost doesn't count since the insurgents immediately sprung up in Mosul)
4. January 2005 elections
5. Constitution passed in October 2005
6. Elections in December 2005
7. Prime minister named 4 months after election

I'm just so tired of the spin. * is just incapable of telling the truth about Iraq. When you can't tell the truth and define the problem, how are you going to solve it?

And * is lying when he said we'll keep fighting there until there is victory. For hawkish people, there was some success in Tal Afar. So everybody talks about it, but no duplication of that effort is occurring anywhere else in the country. To me that means that the administration continues to not listen to the military -- whose goal is to "win" the war -- so even within that hawk framework, he's losing the war, but letting our soldiers die anyway. The generals' revolt is just the beginning of the rebellion from the hawks. I think eventually the hawks will also want a pullout, because they will realize that * can't do a damned thing right. My opinion, however, is that even if the military does everything perfectly with all the troops they really want, it'll still fail because the problems in Iraq are Iraqi problems that only they can solve.

22. I think my moment of truth about the war came when I gave up
believing in the broken promises and the rhetoric of turning the corner and realized , in many ways things had gotten worse and not better. Senator Kerry made it cristal clear to me when he said, it is up to the Iraq's now, not us. They have got to want it or it just won't happen.

19. This is indeed strange and I don't quite understand....
Al-Maliki, a consensus nominee for prime minister, opposed both
Saddam Hussein and the invasion that toppled the dictator.

Shiite politicians chose al-Maliki to replace their previous nominee, interim Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari, a polarizing figure whom the United States opposed behind the scenes. Al-Maliki has strong ties to al-Jaafari, and the support of the political group led by firebrand anti-American cleric Moqtada al-Sadr.

Al-Maliki has 30 days to present his Cabinet to parliament for approval.

"He's thought to be a strong figure, someone who is capable of getting things done," Rice said. "He's also thought to be someone who is very much an Iraqi patriot — very, very concerned about Iraq and Iraq's sovereignty."

Bush called Canada's prime minister, Stephen Harper, to discuss the developments in Iraq. The president also offered condolences about the four Canadian soldiers killed Saturday by a roadside bomb in
Afghanistan

Sounds like the U.S. is backing the Shiite's to me.

25. I don't believe for one moment that * is an honestly elected President.
He's squatting in a White House he doesn't deserve...and he knows it.
They electronically stole 2 elections and many more.
Go to your Town's vote counting area in '06 and WATCH them count every vote. We did at our local election in 04 and I feel it was very honestly counted. We use the lever style machines.
I believe the VOTE COUNTING should be entirely open to the public.
Know who your voting officials are, get on those boards if you can.....BUT GET TO THOSE VOTING PLACES AT 8PM THAT NIGHT......AND WATCH THEM COUNT EVERYTHING.
You don't have to join any group to do it.....just be a concerned citizen looking out for honest elections and be there.
NOTHING that goes on in government should be hidden from it's people.
