1. This is the only poll I see:
Do you think Nagin will be re-elected?

Not want but do you think he will be.

2. I don't know anything about the other candidates
All I know about Nagin, really, aside from the snippets I saw post-Katrina, is that he is a former Cox executive who used to come on my cable tv all the time telling us how much better their shitty service was GONNA be...and that he used to be a Republican...

5. The NOLA mayor debate was this past week....
...most of us live blogging that night liked "all the Dems" on the panel ! I just hope a Dem wins. Those republicans were really freaky :scared:

13. I wanted to see it, but an unanticipated funeral intervened...
I see this morning it is down to Nagin and the LT GOV, with a runoff likely. So, I guess it IS down to a Dem, which is good for the city!

6. I'm pulling for Ron Forman.
Edited on Sat Apr-22-06 07:11 PM by 8_year_nightmare
He's a Democratic businessman who transformed one of the worst zoos in the nation to one of the best. He also brought to the city a beautiful "Aquarium of the Americas", an IMAX theater, & Woldenberg Riverfront Park (known around here as simply "The Riverfront"). He's best equipped to get this city not only rebuilt, but I would anticipate him rebuilding it even better than it was.

He riled some DUers the night of the debate when he was one of three candidates who answered "yes" to, "Do you think Bush has done a good job?" He explained that "You have to be able to work with people." I'm sure he didn't think Bush has done a good job, but he's proven that he knows how to get things done.

4. I'm not a fan of his
His handling of post-Katrina New Orleans has been slightly below average, which is to say, significantly better than the Bush Administration.

8. I understand that....but from observing Katrina
from afar (SE Va) he did pretty good under the circumstances. Very tragic as it was, I don't think our area mayors would have had the cajones.

7. I just googled some news about the race, it seems like Nagin and Landrieu
will lead (according to predictions I saw, at least.)

9. Weren't the rules, if one didn't get 50% of the vote
the top two vote getters have a vote off later in May ? I'll take the top two Dems over that Republican team from the Hardball debate :scared:

10. I believe so, and the prediction seems to be Nagin and Landrieu
will go head to head.

11. Check out these comments.
I found these survey results while I was doing the Election Reform thread this morning. I did an all NOLA theme this morning, so there is lots of NOLA news there.

The comments are interesting:
