The Highest Approval rating for US Senators goes to Ben Nelson (NE)
The Lowest goes to satantorum (PA).
There are only 3 US Senators whose net numbers are negative and they're all pukes.
There are 24 that have approvals of less than 50% and 17 are pukes.

6. Very true.
They'd be painted as lower than child molesters by the media.

2. Disturbing to see Sen. Stabenow that low
Michigan will be very, very tough this year for her. And shouldn't be. Levin is not running, but it is ridiculous not to see him at or near the top, where he deserves to be. Those two and Gov. Granholm have been hurt by mediocre (at best) staffs.

4. what accounts for the difference in Hagel and Nelson ?
while Hagel's are still high at 56 percent. that's still 17 points less than Nelson.

since it's a very Republican state Nelson is probably has support among a number Republicans to get that high. but are are Hagel's lower numbers due to having less Dem support compared to the Nelson's Republican support. or less Republican support.

7. Nelson is consistent, unlike Hagel who panders.
For or better or for worse, he votes the ways he says he will. Hagel tries to play both end against the middle.

Nelson is pro-life, but he doesn't make abortion a big part of his campaign.

As Governor, he refused to uphold an agreement made by the former Republican governor. She was going to allow Nebraska to accept nuclear waste. He stood his ground on a clean environment, even after threats of being sued. The state eventually lost in court.

He also tried extremely hard to bring good jobs to the state. BMW used the state, to gain a more favorable deal on the east coast. He learned his lesson, so when GM announced a possible Saturn plant, he didn't offer up a big sweetheart deal.

By the way, both Omaha and Lincoln have Democratic mayors. It's the national elections that go to Republicans. I mention it because most people think the state is completely red.
