Bolten's 5 point plan to sway voters back to Bush
Josh Bolten has summited a 5 point plan to President Bush to win back some of his base he is steadily losing as a result of Iraq, and other poorly mismanaged policies. Here is the plan;

1, Deploy guns and badges. Play to the neo-con base on immigration. Tell them that illegals pose a serious threat to homeland security. Use the fear card.

2, Make Wall St. happy and continue the tax cuts. Play up the fact that tax cuts are a meaningful part of keeping the economy rolling.

3, Brag more about your successes. Also jump on the Democrats with their "negativity". Make the Democrats come out with plans of their own, and contrast their plan with yours.

4, Reclaim security by playing and talking tough on Iran. This has become your new trump card. Don't be shy about playing it.

5, Court the press, don't shut them out. Getting nasty and vile with the press, gets you nowhere. Get them on your side.

That's the plan presented by Bolten. Will the president swallow his stubbornness and go with it??

2. Looks as if the have their work cut for them. People are tired of the BS..
They want to see effective government, which the BA is not capable of enacting.

What the heck are they talking about in point 3 - ?

3, Brag more about your successes. Also jump on the Democrats with their "negativity". Make the Democrats come out with plans of their own, and contrast their plan with yours.

3. Bolton's too late to the show. Credibility has been lost.
People have already seen the ventriloquist's mouth moving, and you can't regain the innocence.

All Bush can effectively do at this point is to say, "Somebody else is the Decider, not me."

4. Why does Bolten need to lure voters back to Bush?
They can't vote for Bush again.

Or is something in the works?

6. # 6 Steal votes
through the use of things like HB 3 which was passed in Ohio
* No Recounts
* Voting Machines software & hardware can not be inspected
* Central Tabulators can not be inspected
* Forensic analysis of the vote suppressed
* Exit polling suppressed
* Voter ID = a data base by which the crooks (these are not republicans of Ike or even Goldwater)
can know before the election how many votes they will need to manipulate to get their desired outcome
* Use a bought or lazy press to spread stories about democratic vote fraud.

The rest is just window dressing to make the vote close enough to steal it again.

We need Exit polling @ every voting location ..... not the total ballot but on enough key races
so as to assure that when "they" steal it again we have the data. "They" are working on this as
we speak. It will not be Florida 2000 or Ohio 2004 but new and clever ways to steal the election.
"they" have too much to hide.

9. Salute!
#1 - bribe, cajole, blackmail polling orgs to keep their results within 5-10% between candidates

#2 - intimidate and disenfranchise Democratic voters using mix of ballot box allocation, Jim Crow, faulty machines

#3 - create spectacular national security crisis in October

#4 - manipulate vote counts using any means available

#5 - Consolidate the fascist regime and eliminate domestic enemies

#6 - Produce maximum amount of propaganda and American Idol type programs.

8. This is what passes for solid political advice?
I'm in the wrong field. This is stupid advice...unless the White House hired James Carville or something.

Point number one will fail because Hispanics will abandon the Republicans en masse...and there just aren't enough inbred white trash hicks to offset that loss of votes.

Point number two will fail because I'm just not sure that the number of Wall Street investors will be enough to offset the 33% approval rating. And of course, does it really matter to blue collar voters in Ohio that you've got a 5% tax cut when you don't have a job?

Point number three is just total bullshit. "Um, we do that already and nobody believes us. I think we should keep doing it and, by the three thousandth time they hear that Iraq is going great, they'll believe it."

Point number four won't work because popular support for invading Iran is nowhere near where it was for Iraq. People aren't buying the bullshit this time around. Iran will do what it wants and, if Bush does decide to drop a nuke or bomb them (which I think he will), there won't be the "rally around the president" thing this time. There will be more of a "let's get this maniac out of office because gas is $9 a gallon and I'm sick of war" thing.

Point number five is anathema to the entire Bush approach to the press going back to Poppy's days as VP. Besides, the press has actually been as favorable as could be given the insane amount of scandals breaking daily. They get their message out just fine...the problem is nobody believes it anymore because they just sit around and lie all the time hoping not to get caught.

A real five point plan would look conciliatory and play to the middle. This isn't what I would do, but Bush could do these things and drive his poll numbers back into the 40s:

1. Reduce the number of troops in Iraq to about a third of what it is now. Bring the rest home in a year.

2. Fire Rumsfeld. Admit the intel wasn't vetted properly..."we saw bad intel and we have fixed the vetting process" even if they don't.

3. Accuse Chalabi of being a spy for Iran (which he probably is anyway), scapegoat him and try to arrest him for war crimes. This gives you leverage against Iran (not much, but more than you have now).

4. Reduce the military budget to 350 billion, take the remaining 50 billion and extend health care to most or all of the 40 million uninsured.

5. Go after big oil for price gouging. Work with liberals in Congress to pass a windfall profits tax on the biggies, pass price controls, something like that.

Voila! Bush doesn't look like a maniac and his poll numbers go back up. He won't do any of this because he really is a maniac, but something like this would work. And that is precisely why he will continue to sink. He isn't capable of doing any of this.

12. killerbush, I think you ae right to put Dubya's stubbornness at the
question line there.

To me, that's one of the big variables in why he's been so terrible as a public servant.
