Let me see if I get this right; Josh Bolton has a "five point plan" according to Time magazine,to "rescue" the right from their expected election losses expected this fall. I won't run down the five since killerbush already has,but I can dissect them here.
Guns and Badges; Otherwise known as fear the "reconquista" brown people who want to take over the US. It appears that Bolton et al didn't watch TV to weeks ago when millions of immigrants took to the streets to show that they will not be marginalized and scapegoated by the GOP. If the right wants to use this fear tactic and have George run around the Son oran desert in another "Mission Accomplished" moment, then do so,but not so subtle bigotry will hopefully mean another mass demonstration---to the ballot box this fall-to vote Democratic.
Make Wall Street happy. Who gives a damn about making Wall Street happy? I don't. How about making Main Street happy. Main Street cares about $3.00-$5.00 a gallon gas prices. Wall Street doesn't. Paris Hilton and friends don't need more moolah in their pocket, the average American does.
Brag about successes. Wanna talk about the new Medicare plan? Fine, let's talk about its actual costs and the fact that it is confusing the hell out of senior citizens and is nothing more than a giveaway to big Pharma. Iraq,Iran, immigration, the economy, health care, etc. You really wan to talk about these? OK Let's talk about incompetence, duplicity, arrogance, mendacity, criminality, lack of trust, and any other thing the White House wants to talk about. That's a mismatch, and they know it.
Playing tough with Iran. Again, let's scare the American people and try to further enrage the Middle East. Beat them war drums,as it worked so well with Iraq. Piss off some more brown skinned people. This gambit works with the freeper crowd, but it ran out of steam with the rest of America whose IQ is above room temperature. The only way this gambit works is for Rove,(provided he's not being fitted for his orange jump suit and get bin Laden to attack us again.
Court the press. Sure, bring in Tony Snow. Since Faux news is already the propaganda arm of the White House, this might work. Since Faux and the kool-aid drinkers who believe every word that Murdoch's memo machine spews out is the gospel truth, the true believers can't distinguish between lies and reality anyways.
