THE PLAN

http://www.dnc.org/agenda.html

It's right here. And election reform is part of it.

So quitcherbitchin! ;-)

Would I be right in assuming that the talking heads are moaning about the absence of the Dem "PLAN"? Hmmm?

2. You know how it works - media ignores what Dems say on the issues and
then complain that Dems don't talk about the issues and have no plans.

They've been doing it for 6 years.

3. Does it include surrendering the moment Republicans complain?
As a Democrat, it's important to capitulate at just the right moment. We don't want to appear too uppity.

16. The only reason I have a glimer of hope:
The only reason I have a glimmer of hope is because Howard Dean is in charge of the DNC.

Dean may not win every battle, but he's a fighter.

Okay - I'll jump on this wagon.

Woo Hoo! I love the plan!

I guess she just missed this one.

No doubt she'll continue to miss it as long as she's frightened about the Republican's chances this year.

Any implication that she straps on the knee pads and bobs vigourously for her WH masters are scandalous, and not worthy of this discussion board.

7. But FAUX didn't say it, so it can't possibly be true, Janx.
:sarcasm:

And yes indeedy, I'm referring to another thread that I bet you are familiar with too.

It's right there in nicely made, easily readable graphics and text, but since FAUX hasn't seen it, I suppose it doesn't exist for some... (again with the :sarcasm:)

15. We need TWO things now.
An acronym to make the plan really easy to remember and explain to people, and a song.

I wrote down a word for each of the 11 points and spent the last half hour trying to put some acronym together, but I'm having no luck!

The closest slogan I came up with so far was:

Democrats 11
Republicans 1

Dems have an eleven point plan to improve the future!
Pubs have a one point plan, and it's FEAR!

As for the song, I'm talking about some catchy tune. The kind people find themselves humming at work or while driving and you don't even know why.

Edited on Sun Apr-23-06 07:51 PM by AuntiBush
Of course they do, always did. This nation has historically done way, way better whenever they're in control.

It's all been part of the GOP plan, to propagandize us into believing Dems have no plan.

Edited for typos

24. That link
appears to be to a bunch of posts by individuals. The fact that they're on the DNC site is commendable.

But what is being actually .... you know ..... done? What's the plan? Where are the lawsuits? Where are the challenges to the various partisan sec'ys of state? Where's the help to the state voter rights grassroots groups? What, specifically, is being done to help correct the problems we all know exist? What are they doing - actually doing - to protect ... mmmm .... **my** vote?

Not challenging. just asking.

25. The posts are put there by the DNC, and individuals
are encouraged to post responses on the blog.

H2S, I'm not happy with the machines either, but until legislation happens, legislation that will have to be passed in a Congress that has more Dems in it than at present, nothing's going to change.

November is everything. If Dems can win by a large enough margin, voter fraud will be impossible (or at least ineffective). And THEN we will have representatives who can enact legislation to get this fixed once and for all.

I don't think that badmouthing Dean was constructive; Dean was on national television drawing attention to the problem back in 2003.

Addressing this problem is part of the DNC's official agenda.

31. Perhaps its necessary to think in separate terms ... Dean is *not* the DNC
... and vice versa.

If Dr. Dean wants to change things, and he's getting flack either from within or without (meaning the Vichy Dems with big mouths), then maybe people who take some (mild, to be sure) action to express their own feelings will work in his favor.

If he's calling **all** the shots, then maybe I should be against him. (Note **clearly** ...... I do **not** think this is the case. The DNC, like any organization, is factionalized and even the head is not able to get everything he wants. So I do **not** hold Dr. Dean responsible for this. I hold the DNC responsible.)

After losing to chicanery in '00, '02, and '04, I am not willing to just go along and hope things get better. And since that chicanery is 100% related to vote count cheating, that seems a reasonable place to start to fight ... no?

29. If elections are rigged, how do we get Dems in to pass election reform?
That is the sticky-wicket with which Dr. Dean has not dealt -- how do we WIN 2006 when every possible form of election fraud is underway right now?!?!

Campaign promises are good - especially if kept.

How do we elect people to pass election reform laws - if the people who don't want the laws own the voting rolls and voting machines?

I am not being defeatest -- I believe that Dean could be using his 50-State Plan staff to hold workshops on election protection - right now! We win big in 2006 if only the election is fair and the DNC must take BOLD action now to make sure the election will be fair (or something remotely resembling fair).

:(

32. I believe this agenda needs a Preamble . . .
that makes three ironclad pledges to the American people . . .

1) PROMISE . . . To tell the Truth.

2) UPHOLD . . . The Rule of Law.

3) CREATE . . . A Government Of the People, By the People, For the People.

(a concept first articulated by a Republican president, btw). . .
