April 29 Logistics
We are happy to announce that an agreement has been reached with the NYC Police Department for our plans on Saturday, April 29th.
The March for Peace, Justice and Democracy will kick off in Manhattan, just north of Union Square and proceed south along Broadway to Foley Square, where we will hold a Peace and Justice Festival. Please see below for schedule, map of the route and contingent and legal information:
10:30 am - 12 noon: Assembly along Broadway, north of 18th Street. Contingents will form in the area from 18th Street to 22nd Street, between Fifth Avenue and Park Avenue South. If you are not part of a contingent forming east of Broadway, please enter the assembly area from the west. (See below for map and contingent details.) To reach the assembly area, the best subway stops to use are: #1 train to 23rd St. or 18th St. on 7th Ave; F train to 23rd St. on 6th Ave; R train to 23rd St. on Broadway; #6 train to 23 St. stop on Park Ave. South. At this time, we understand that the above subway stations will be open, but the police may shut them down if the area becomes too crowded. Please do not take the subway to 14th Street-Union Square. If you want to play it safe, take the N, R, Q, W, B, D, F, Q to 34th Street, the PATH to 33rd Street or NJ Transit/Amtrak/LIRR to Penn Station and walk down to the assembly area from there.
12 noon: March begins and proceeds south on Broadway. We will turn left (east) on Worth Street and continue into Foley Square.
1 pm - 6 pm: The Peace and Justice Festival will be held at Foley Square from 1 pm to 6 pm. A map of the festival area will be available here soon. If you are planning to go straight to the festival, you can reach Foley Square by taking the A, C, 1, 2, 3, J, M or 6 trains to Chambers Street or the N,R,Q or W to Canal Street or the R to City Hall.
