Court filing in case of indicted Bush official suggests Ohio congressman p

What a scoop

Perhaps more significantly, however, it also provides the first formal evidence that powerful Ohio Republican Bob Ney – then chairman of the House Administration Committee – provided false figures for the cost of his own trip to Scotland. Ney has been under fire for his role in allegedly helping Abramoff aid his clients in violation of House ethics rules and possibly federal laws.

Ney was referenced as “Congressman #1” in a plea agreement Abramoff made in January, in which he admitted to bribing members of Congress and their staffs.
According to an email written by Abramoff and released during investigation of the lobbyist’s activities, Ney had a “great time very grateful” for the Scotland outing.

“BN had a great time and is very grateful but is not going to mention the trip to Scotland for obvious reasons,” Abramoff wrote. “He said he’ll show his thanks in other ways, which is what we want.”

Ney also appears to have lied about the purpose of the trip. "In April, 2002, I was approached by Mr. Abramoff, who I believed to be a respected member of the community, and asked to go on a trip to Scotland which Mr. Abramoff said would help support a charitable organization, that he founded, through meetings he organized with Scottish Parliament officials," Ney said in a statement last November.

In his financial disclosure report to Congress, Ney listed "speech to Scottish Parliamentarians" as a purpose of the trip. Newsweek's Michael Isikoff later revealed that there was no record of Ney’s speech and that the Scottish parliament was away on recess during the time of the junket.

their lies are so blatant, they don't even check out their alibis.
 and hating them all the while I am...my humor has become so black, this is funny.

Went through all that trouble and didn't check to make sure that they were even in town or session first.

4. Also in the Rolling Stone article,
Ney wrote HAVA and had taken money from Abramoff who got it circuitously from Diebold through Taurig. Its down a ways in the article but sure tells a lot about how we got stuck with HAVA.

5. Uh huh, HAVA

If Ney goes down, the Republicans are in deep trouble. As Diebold becomes a name on everyones lips when they fill-up the gas tank and look for a reason on why it is the are paying so much for fuel.

Had a discussion with a previously republican voter yesterday at the gas pump, and he was not a happy camper. Not happy at all. Toss in election fraud, it's hard to say how many republicans will suddenly become lifelong democrats.

Edit: There is great 'murmuring' among the people.

8. HAVA is the deep dark dirty secret of the Ney Abramoff story
HAVA was written to keep Republicans in control. Everytime I wrote to Ney questioning electronic voting, I would get a vague reply about how he understood my concern and would keep it in mind the next time there was a meeting about the subject. Ney, of course, was in charge of scheduling meetings and defining the HAVA regulations. His indictment can't come soon enough. I need a real congressman.

7. I wonder how patriotic republicans can remain republicans.
The utter corruption is staggering. The last six years has been one big ongoing crime!

How can people believe what republicans say, even after they catch the republicans picking their pocket?

9. Some Germans still thought Hitler was a great leader after WWII
was long over. Republicans are kind of like these Nazis, I guess. No matter how evil their leaders are, they still stand behind them.
