Sources: Tony Snow likely to take White House post
By Suzanne Malveaux
CNN Washington Bureau
Tuesday, April 25, 2006; Posted: 4:07 a.m. EDT (08:07 GMT)

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sources close to the White House said Monday that Fox anchor Tony Snow is likely to accept the job as White House press secretary, succeeding Scott McClellan.

The sources said they expect him to announce his decision within the next few days.

A source familiar with the discussions said Monday that newly appointed Chief of Staff Josh Bolten asked Snow to make a decision by early this week. Two sources familiar with the discussions said Bolten wanted to fill the post this week, as early as Tuesday.

Sources familiar with Snow's deliberations said he has been focusing on family, finances and his health.

2. Talking head on CNN...
...this morning said the White House hoped Snow would bring "gravitas" to position. I think Bush needs to hire Stephen Colbert. Colbert could bring "truthiness" also. I guess CNN doesn't know "gravitas" is a joke now.

5. I think Dick Cheney exploded the whole "gravitas" myth.
Gravitas wouldn't pump a major campaign donor full of buckshot. Oh, sorry, that should be "peppered".

A Fox News reporter paid to tell the administration's lies? You think he'll get back pay?

At least the 'drama' would have a little entertainment value.

6. Cheney must be aiming for their Base
and he'll likely hit the White House's foot!

Snow's a tool and there's not a single vote in the 68% disapproval rating that will not see through the smoke.

10. FR just scrubbed all of his messages from their site, so
that nobody could see what they guy's been up to for the past 8 years other than his FauxNews persona. Revisionism at its finest!

12. He will now serve a higher liar. FOX was good training on that count
and now he'll be on tv screens even more.

I hope his health holds up. I expect the coming months to be difficult ones for anybody in that position. The crystal ball is showing more thorns than blossoms for the Bush administration.
