4. Here's what MSNBC had to say about it:
Basically, it's all smoke and mirrors...

:patriot:

Bush plan will do little to ease pain at the pump
No quick fix for high global oil prices, tight gasoline supplies

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12480567/

With pump prices still rising, spot outages of gasoline cropping up in some East Coast markets, and proposed solutions gaining momentum in Congress, President Bush’s plan to ease gasoline prices is aimed at calming growing consumer anger at the rising cost of filling up.

But the measures announced Tuesday aren’t likely to alter the forces that are pushing up the cost of crude oil, straining the supplies of gasoline to U.S. motorists and sending pump prices higher each week.

For starters, there is little the White House or Congress can do to control the price of crude. At recent highs of $75 a barrel, the cost of crude oil has jumped by a third since November as demand for oil continues to grow faster than global production capacity. Nervous oil buyers are paying these high prices because they're worried about possible supply bottlenecks from multiple hot spots like Iraq, Nigeria and Iran.

And the biggest single factor driving up the price of a gallon of gas is the sharp increase in oil prices.

7. They could get the hell out of Iraq........
and stop making everyone so nervous and jerky about Iran, for a start. Bush's wars and saber rattling are the cause of this "shortage". Get the blivet out of the White House and see how prices fall. :eyes:

6. Still 85-15 (That's the mix of E-85 Ethanol)
Seriously - three issues
    1. China entering the market

    2. India entering the market

    3. Geology - we're running out of crude. (Relatively speaking)

What will "bring gas prices down" (or more correctly "slow the runaway inflation"1. Growth of ethanol infrastructure (from whatever source - sugar, corn, fermentation, digestion)

2. Growth of bio-diesel infrastructure.

3. Smarter cars - injector/superchargers/timing/microprocessors designed for flex fuel, continuously variable transmissions

4. Return to the oldser suburbs and the urban core from the rural exurbs (with transit)

5. TRANSIT, WALKING, BICYCLING, TRANSIT FRIENDLY AND PEDESTRIAN FRIENDLY AND BICYCLE FRIENDLY URBAN PLANNING AND ZONING

9. done and sent them a "comment"
The gas investigation by an Administration and Congress controlled by the same party, who have received $140,870,847 (75%) of total political donations from the Oil/gas industry (since 1990) is not about to bite the hand that feeds them.

The investigation will be smoke and mirrors to give the impression Republicans are doing something.

10. sure
Sure. Just like the half trill (and counting) we've spent in Iraq will produce a similarly-sized gas price dividend.
