Wes Clark and George Soros in Manhattan
Hey, I attended a fundraiser that George Soros hosted for WesPAC at his residence in Manhattan tonight....Wes said a lot. Goerge said not quite as much. It was a great event but I'm too tired to say more than I really loved George. He's really a sweet man...intent on doing a lot of good. Nice team, Wes and George...Glad to have both on our side...

8. Here's one of the parts I liked!

"He spoke of how important it is to contest ALL districts in ‘06. We can’t just say, well, we need this many seats, so let’s target this many districts. It’s more than about even just winning seats. We have to get our message out there, everywhere, every state, every district, all over the country...He came back to this a couple of times during the event, the need to go into every single district and contest it.

He spoke of how a Democrat in certain areas of the middle of the country will be different than a Democrat on one of the coasts but there are good Democrats who can be representative of people from each part of the country. We have to make sure they are running and that they have support."

10. Yep, this was something he kept coming back to...
how we need to contest every district in every state. We need to really work to get our message out there because people aren't going to hear it through the MSM but, if they do hear it, they will like it....

There was so much that he said...I only got some of it down. It's great to hear him talk at length like that.

18. "More than... just winning seats"
I may be slow... perhaps every one else saw this before... but I've been so focused on the need to win back a house of Congress, it never occurred to me how true this is. The corporate media regurgitates GOP talking points. They frame every issue, use every buzz word, that puts the right-wing/neo-con position in the most favorably light possible. How can we get our message out?

There may be better ways (I can't think of any), but surely one is to get Democrats speaking directly to the voters. And how else can it be done than by contesting EVERY district, no matter what the odds of winning might look like now. And with every Dem candidate bringing in the party stars, to attract as large an audience as they possibly can.

Clark is a fuckin' genius. But I knew that. ;)

I know Clark talks to Rahm Emanual, who endorsed him in 2004. I know he went to bat for Eric Massa in NY-29 when the DCCC didn't want to commit resources on a long shot (and Massa's in a statistical tie today!!). I hope Clark has gotten thru to him, that it's about more than conserving resources to hit magic number 15.

5. Good for yuo, Carol!
I have to admit I'm mor than a littl jealous. First, I've never met, let alone hung out with, a billionaire. But more importantly, I have never had the pleasure of meeting the wonderful Gen. Clark.

6. I would think that Soros would be great
...but you must met Wes Clark. And please go and read Carol's diary at WesPAC. I'm blown away. He really had plenty to say about things that we need understand. Really. I'm kinda stunned.

12. He did Donna....
He had so much to say...That's only some of it. As Ted Kennedy said at one time, we would be wise to listen to wise men like General Clark....

7. Aw shit, woman.....You are missing an experience....
And that is exactly what it is!

That's when you see the aura glow that surrounds him......the stuff of "stars".

And I'm serious as a heart attack!

I saw him on Monday at a breakfast in the Bay Area....and we all discussed that "glow" he certainly has at our table after he came by and spent some time with us!

13. Yep,
and the beauty of Wes is how closely he listens when you speak to him...really listens. He truly thinks what everyone has to say is important.

14. Wes Clark
I'm a big supporter of Clark in 2008. He has everything we need in a President. Hoping to meet up with other supporters in my area (NJ/NYC area). The Soros event was a bit pricey for me and most regular folks.

17. Hi GUYMAN
Yeah, this was a bit pricey...I had a little help with this one to be able to attend...I don't usually travel in circles such as these...I was glad to be able to go, though...This was a good one....

Please go sign up at CCN (securingamerica.com/ccn) if you haven't already....

And, if Wes does run in '08, if it's anything like the last time, there will be plenty of Wes events in NYC even well before the NY primary...

Hope to meet up with you sometime...and welcome to DU! :hi:

11. Oh, tisha,
you must meet the good General one day. He's really such a joy to meet and talk to.

And, yes, a billionaire, sheesh! But such a nice man. Easy to see why he and Wes are tight. He embodies the "when you can do good, you should" attitude of Wes'.
