So...Keeping an utter clueless incompetant in a position of power is

sending a better message than relieving him of his duties.

Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., was among those who attended. Even though he has clashed with Rumsfeld in the past, Thune said getting rid of Rumsfeld now would hurt the overall effort in Iraq. "It's the wrong message to send," Thune said.

On edit: I am glad that none of the rummy supporters were advisors to Lincoln during the Civil War. Afterall
replacing the losers that came before Grant might have sent the wrong message to the Confederates.
I guess it's better to lose and NOT LOOK weak. Than to win and do the smart logical thing.

He is dull to the 9th degree.

5. Absolutely, I lived in SD for a long time
As soon as he beat Daschle in 04 and started making the t.v. rounds, it was clear that he not only had no ideas, but seemed to struggle even understanding the questions presented to him. His answers have tended to consist of reciting White House talking points. But in SD, as long as he doesn't get caught in a scandal, that's probably enough to get himself elected again.

6. Something that just came to me:
Thank God none of tese idiots were advising Lincoln during the Civil War.
No incompetant general would have ever been fired because that might have sent the wrong message to the Confederate Army.

8. The irony is that "the enemy" already knows what a jerk Rumsfeld is, and
is probably thrilled that he is being kept in his position.
They are probably laughing so hard they are peeing their pants that Dimson is keeping him in charge.

3. What kind of message is Thune sending?
I mean do these realize that they are standing on national television, with the cat let out of the bag as far as Rumsfeld's incompetance, saying TO THE ENEMY that WE CAN'T GIVE THE ENEMY THE WRONG MESSAGE? Its over! Its done! The enemy knows he is incompetant! So change him with somebody the enemy doesn't know is incompentant!

4. I thought the utterly clueless incompetent was Brownie or Bush.
Or maybe Rice or Cheney . . . There are so many of them in the Bush admin.

10. Who said anything about impeachment?
Edited on Fri Apr-28-06 12:52 AM by rpannier
The post is about refusing to fire an utter incompetant. And taking the position that it's better to keep him around to continue his incompetant behavior because we might appear weak, rather than doing the right thing.

But you'd have known that if you had read my post.

edited for spelling
