LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The Minuteman Project anti-immigration group on Wednesday unveiled plans to lead a 10-day cross-country caravan next month highlighting the jobs it said black Americans were losing to migrant laborers.
The unofficial volunteer border patrol group, which is based in Southern California, said it expected thousands to take part in the drive from Los Angeles through Texas, Tennessee, Georgia and onward to Washington D.C. to protest proposals in Congress that would create a way for millions of illegal immigrants to gain U.S. citizenship.
"America is crying for a protest against the federal government. We will give them an ultimatum. If they do not act to secure America, we will vote them out of office," said Minuteman spokesman Tim Bueler.
